1 Term Definition 1. Imperialism A. Exaggerated or false news stories that helped to spark the Spanish-American War. 2. Yellow Journalism B. Refers to the practice of giving to charity. 3. Spanish-American War C. This 1898 conflict resulted in American becoming a world power with the colonies of Puerto Rico, Guam, and the Philippines. 4. Philanthropy D. This ship mysteriously sank in Havana Harbor in 1898, the most immediate cause of the Spanish-American War. 5. USS Maine E. Refers to a larger and stronger nation taking over a weaker, smaller nation or territory.
