--school rules (hands to self, follow directions quickly, walking feet, use a quiet voice, take a break when you need one)

--Read over the classroom rule book your child brought home and encourage them to show you the motions we use when we read the rules each day!
--See if you can look up our stories on Youtube and watch with your child, or borrow them at the local library!

What’s Going On This Month
--The children will be learning the classroom routines this month, which usually takes about two or three weeks. We use music, movement and pictures to help with all of the transitions, making it fun to participate.
--We will be reading our stories in a group setting, usually lasting only a few minutes, paired with a movement game. This gets the children interested enough to be able to stay with the group.
--The students will have a lot of opportunity to get to know their classmates. We take pictures quite frequently and will be using those in a classroom photo album this school year! We may also ask families to contribute their pictures, as well!

What we’re learning:
--naming and matching colors
--coping with disappointment
--answering questions from stories
--practicing how to stay with the group during circle time
--singing songs and filling in words from our stories
--playing with others
Teacher Tip
--Hopefully you can find time to sit down with your child and read stories! I know how busy we can get, but reading is an essential part of your child’s growth. Consider going to the library to check out some of the books we are reading in class!
--While you are walking or driving around your neighborhood, talk with your child about the changes you may see in the weather (leaves turning, dropping, etc.) Ask questions, i.e. “what color are the leaves?

What’s Going On This Month
What a great start we have had to our school year! I am having so much fun getting to know the students! I will be sending home a monthly newsletter, as well as posting it to my website. I hope to provide some insight as to what is happening in the classroom, and remind you of important dates and things to come! This month, we will be reading several stories and using them as anchors for our lessons. Our art projects revolve around the stories, and often end up becoming a mural or a decoration for our doors and walls. We try to do a lot of pretend play, as well, which involves acting out the stories or expanding on what we’ve read. I will be sending you updates and pictures along the way! Please feel free to or call should you have any questions or concerns.
