1 Frederick Douglass and Author’s Purpose
You need three sheets of paper to complete this assignment: Label the first sheet Logos (Logical Appeals) Label the second sheet Pathos (Emotional Appeals) Label the third sheet Ethos (Credibility) and Author’s Purpose. As you read look for quotes that show logos and pathos. When you write down a quote, explain why you think it shows either logos or pathos. Give 4 or 5 quotes with their explanations for EACH persuasive technique. When you finish, write a response that explains how Douglass establishes ethos (credibility) using both logos and pathos. Explain how all three of these persuasive techniques support the author’s purpose.
