4 What Does The Law Say? To ensure that all children receive a high quality education, and to close the achievement gap between children meeting the challenging State Standards. Provides greater flexibility to States and Districts for using federal funds to: address local needs to fill important opportunity gaps including making greater investments in the enriched curriculum and educational experiences inherent to a well-rounded and complete education back

The ESEA/ESSA requires school districts to implement programs, activities and procedures for the involvement of parents and family members. Such programs, activities and procedures shall be planned and implemented with meaningful consultation with parents of participating children. back

Specific agenda topics are crucial to processing your HEB payment in a timely manner! (agendas must not be revised after any meeting). Supporting Documentation for Parent and Family Engagement payments: Flyer/Invitation /Communication to parents Parent Meeting Agenda Copy of Parent Meeting Sign-in sheet(s) Copy of Parent Meeting Evaluations (at least 3) Description of Make and Take activity with supply list (if applicable) The purchase date on the receipt should reflect a reasonable timeframe for the purchase prior to the meeting. The amount of food purchased should be in relation to the type of meeting you are having and the number of attendees: Meet the Teacher has more parents attending than a Principal's Coffee back

22 Elementary Schools School–Parent Compact Conference
Sign-In Sheet of parent-teacher compact conference must state “School-Parent Compact Conference”. Indicate conference date on Sign-In Sheet. General Sign-In Sheets are not acceptable for documentation(e.g. Office Visitor, Open House, etc.). You may have a joint or separate conference to meet the School-Parent Compact meeting requirement (as long as the Compact Conference is indicated on the Sign-In Sheet and the Agenda). back

23 Schools with Pre-K through 8th Grade Levels School–Parent Compact Conference
If a school has an elementary campus number, then all grade levels at that campus should have the parent-teacher conference regarding the compact. If a school does not have an elementary campus number, but has any configuration of grades K-5 on that campus, then parent-teacher conferences to discuss the compact should be held for grades K-5 at a minimum. back

24 The Value and Utility of Parent Contributions
Staff Training on The Value and Utility of Parent Contributions Title I, Part A, district and campuses must educate teachers, pupil services personnel, principals and other staff members*, with the assistance of parents in the value and utility of the contributions of parents: Meet with the principal to be placed on the agenda for a faculty meeting to train staff on “The Value and Utility of Parents”. This training must occur on or before November 2, 2018 to meet Title I, Part A requirements. Federal Programs provides a PowerPoint for campus training (currently under revision for ). back *The term “other staff” means specialized instructional support personnel, librarians, career guidance and counseling personnel, education aides and other instructional and administrative personnel Public Law , Sec. 8101(35)

The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) governs Title I and other federal programs. On December 10, 2015, the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) was signed into legislation to rewrite ESEA/NCLB. The Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) has introduced an entirely new set of rules to Title I and other federal programs. back
