5 Documents to be Maintained in the 2017-2018 Title I School-level Filing System
Once the PFEP is submitted to the District via the Title I School-level Compliance Collaboration Site, schools are required to compile and maintain the following documentation in the Parent and Family Engagement Section of the Title I School-level Filing System: Evidence of Input from parents, family members or guardians in the Development of the PFEP; Copy of the PFEP; Evidence of parent and family engagement in the development of the Parent-School Compact; and Copy of the Parent-School Compact in English, Spanish and Haitian-Creole.

6 Evaluation/Review Recommendations
It is recommended that the Title I School-level PFEP and School-Parent Compact Evaluations/Reviews are included in the EESAC meetings. The discussions should be included in the meeting minutes and agendas. Below are recommended and not recommended examples of strategies for documenting parental input. Recommended Examples The Principal distributed a draft of the School-level PFEP and the amount of Title I funds set aside for parent and family engagement activities to the parents. The Principal led a discussion on each of the components included in the School-level PFEP and appropriate and legal uses of Title I funds. Through careful deliberation and discussion, revisions were made to the “Building Capacity” sections based on the recommendations. Those present made no suggestions for revisions to the other sections. The Principal will make the updates to the online template as requested. Ms. Brown (parent) made a motion to approve the School-level PFEP with the indicated revisions. Mr. Gomez (parent) seconded. The motion was carried unanimously. The examples above indicate that the parents reviewed a draft of the School-level PFEP and were provided an opportunity to give input. While it’s not necessary to make all the changes suggested by the parents, school leaders should take their suggestions into careful consideration.

7 Evaluation/Review Recommendations (continued) Not Recommended Example
The School-level PFEP was reviewed and approved. This entry only indicates that parents were provided an opportunity to review the plan. It does not indicate that the parents had an opportunity for meaningful input.

8 Important Reminders! Identify barriers which could have hindered participation by parents in parent and family engagement activities during the school year, and the steps the school will take to overcome the identified barriers. Utilize parent survey results to develop the School-level PFEP. Refer to the School-level PFEP Assurances page in order to meet State guidelines, applicable statutes, regulations, and procedures. Display hard copies of the School-level PFEP, and make them available in the school’s main office, the Parent Resource Center/Parent Area and on the school’s website for parents to review. Maintain documentation of parental involvement in the planning, reviewing, and improvements to the School-level Title I PFEP and the Title I School-Parent Compact in the Title I School-level Compliance Filing System. Maintain samples in the Title I School-level Compliance Filing System of Communication Logs from a few teachers, to demonstrate that at least one parent conference per child was conducted with appropriate school staff to amend the School-Parent Compact with the parent for his/her child (grades K-5 only).
