5 THIRD AMENDMENT FOURTH AMENDMENT No longer have to house soldiers
No unreasonable search or arrest Property cannot be searched unless there is “probable cause”

6 FIFTH AMENDMENT SIXTH AMENDMENT
No person tried without grand jury indictment or punished twice for same offense (double jeopardy) Prohibits being a witness against yourself and guarantees due process of law. SIXTH AMENDMENT Right to a fair trial

7 SEVENTH AMENDMENT EIGHTH AMENDMENT Trail by jury
No excessive bail or cruel punishment

8 NINTH AMENDMENT People retain rights not listed in the Constitution TENTH AMENDMENT Power not given to the federal government is given to the people or states

12 AMENDMENT 17 – 1913 AMENDMENT 18 – 1919
Senators are elected by popular election AMENDMENT 18 – 1919 Prohibition – No alcoholic beverages can be made, bought, or sold in the United States

13 AMENDMENT 19 – 1920 AMENDMENT 20 –1933 Women get the right to vote
Changed the date the President takes office to January 20 Changed start date of Congress to January 3

14 AMENDMENT 21 – 1933 AMENDMENT 22 –1951 Repealed prohibition
Made the 18th Amendment no longer valid The only amendment to void another amendment AMENDMENT 22 –1951 States that the president may not serve more than TWO elected TERMS

15 AMENDMENT 23 – 1961 AMENDMENT 24 – 1964
Gave residents of Washington D.C., the right to vote in presidential election AMENDMENT 24 – 1964 Anti-poll tax Forbids taxing voters before they may vote in national elections

16 AMENDMENT 26 – 1971 AMENDMENT 25 – 1967
Sets up the process that if a president is ailing he may pass the duties of office to the vice president Establishes the process then to fill the vacancy of vice president  New VP is appointed by President and approval needed by majority vote in both houses of Congress AMENDMENT 26 – 1971 Changed the voting age from 21 to 18 years old

17 AMENDMENT 27 – 1992 Prohibits Congress from voting itself mid-term pay raises
