4 Course Request Instructions
1. Choose enough classes that will equal 8 full periods (16 boxes) 2. Get all appropriate signatures 3. Match your choices with the high school requirements 4. Choose alternate year long and semester classes

5 Right Now Fill Out The Front Of The Card Completely
Your legal first and last name Student ID # (your 9 Number) Your parent’s information

6 Choose Enough Classes That Will Equal 8 Full Periods
Use a Pencil not a Pen when filling out your courses Select a total of 16 Boxes 2 boxes mean it’s a full year class 1 box means it’s only a semester ( ½ year class) For GTI if the class has a 1.0 next to it, then it counts as 2 boxes. If the class has a 2.0 next to it, then it counts as 4 boxes.

7 Provide Alternate Classes
You need to provide 3 alternate classes that you can take if the classes you requested don’t fit with your schedule 1 Semester Class 1 Full Year Class 1 Additional class (can be either semester or full year) If you are planning on doing tryouts for an audition class list what you are trying out for and what class you would like dropped from your schedule if you make it.

8 Get Appropriate Signatures
Some classes require your current teacher’s signature! Make sure you get their signature and discuss your class choice with them before returning your card Teacher Signatures needed

9 Match Your Choices With The High School Requirements

10 Regents Scholarship (It’s changed a bit!)
Requirements: 2 years of a foreign language while in 9-12th grade 4 years of English 4 years of Progressive Math 3 years of Science- Specifically Biology, Chemistry & Physics 3.5 years of Social Studies credits To be eligible students must earn a 3.3 cumulative high school GPA Earn at least a composite score of 22 on the ACT Fill out the FAFSA Meet all the deadlines and graduate from a Utah High School Take 15 credit hours when enrolling in college You will apply for this scholarship Fall of your Senior Year

16 Why take a CTE Class They provide critical career exploration opportunities during high school. CTE credits fulfill a graduation requirement It is a way to get a start on the fundamentals of a particular career. The GTI offers pathways, especially the AREOSPACE pathway and the MEDICAL INNOVATIONS pathway, that will allow you to have a viable career right after graduating from high school.

17 … If you are interested in taking a GTI Class
Turn in the GTI Application with your card. If we do not have a signed application permission form we will not put you in the class. Be sure to check the back of your cards to see all the GTI possibilities and fill out the application. Each GTI course is 2 class periods- A bus will pick you up from Skyline High School, take you to the GTI, and bring you back to Skyline. Tip: Visit the GTI Open House This Thursday January 25th 4:30-7:30 at the Granite School District Building

18 Choose Classes Wisely Put in core classes that are required.
You must have English, Math, Science, and Geography Use the front of your card to determine your course selection. The Master Schedule is built on your course selections and there will be limited room for class changes once your card is turned in and courses have been entered.

19 Want To Make High School Great Get Involved
Included with your card is the Skyline Tryout Dates Form Skyline offers a variety of clubs, athletic events and experiences. If you don’t see something you would like to join consider starting your own! Students who are involved have a better experience in high school They do better academically and enjoy high school more

20 Course Selection Finish Line We will be back in your English classroom in 1 week to go over your course request cards REMEMBER We need 16 boxes filled out 3 Alternate classes chosen Signatures where required GTI Application signed by parents and returned with your course selection card And your locker card with your buddy’s signature
