Bloodborne pathogen attacks the immune system May take years for HIV to become AIDS No cure but it can be treated Medications have many side effects AIDS allows infection to take over the body

Fluid Imbalance from chronic diarrhea & vomiting- encourage fluids, careful I&O Rashes & Skin Infections: Keep skin clean, monitor Weak Immune System: Good infection control, sick visitors should not visit Pain, Weakness, Fatigue: Help with ADL’s, promote rest, position for comfort, back massage Depression & Fear: Provide support and listen
