2 Rise of Rome Conquered Greece Spread out among Europe conquering lands
Adopted many of their traditions Spread out among Europe conquering lands Offered citizenship to those who were conquered Spoke Latin Strong patrician class (wealthy), and weak plebian class (poor)

3 People to Know Romulus founded Rome
Remus was the twin brother of Romulus Emperor Hadrian built a wall around the Roman empire

4 More People Christianity was made the official religion by the emperor Constantine The major holy book in Christianity is called the bible, it speaks of a messiah who will be sent from God to save the people Julius Caesar ended the Roman Republic Caesar Augustus began a period of peace in Rome called Pax Romana, meaning peace in Rome

5 Government in Rome Republic: Nation governed by the people
Dictator: A ruler with absolute power Empire: A state uniting many territories under one rule Three Branches Senate: an assembly of elders who made laws Assembly: a group of average citizens to have representation in the government Consulus:2 leaders elected by the assembly

6 Roman Law Roman laws were recorded in the 12 tables that were posted in the forum for all citizens to see The catch was that not all Romans could read, mostly just the law makers and government members themselves

They taught the Roman schools Helped build most of the major architecture in the Roman empire (roads, aqueducts, and buildings)

They didn’t have a proper way to elect leaders. This caused most of the leaders to be killed and the position taken over by others seeking power Breaks in the army, causing lost of land Misuse of money and finances Bribing soldiers, parties, stealing from the treasury Eventually Rome fell to the barbarians AKA: Visigoth’s Why Do some people feel like Rome never really fell?
