2 Objectives of the session
To outline main pathways for young people after Sixth Form To describe support programmes at Bohunt Sixth Form for the different pathways To provide opportunities to meet some local universities To outline the timeline of events for students & parents

3 Pathways after Sixth Form
A levels University Apprenticeships Gap year Employment Degree apprenticeships

4 University The most common route through for students following A levels Applications through UCAS 3 Year degree courses or 4 Year with one year experience Can be academic or vocational in nature Some courses require specialist preparation

5 Specialist courses Aspire to Oxbridge – our programme of preparation for applications to Oxford& Cambridge (RHM) Medical & veterinary applications (CHN) Visual Arts & foundation art courses (GLN) Performing arts: music and theatre courses

6 Other types of degree Sponsored degree – universities and companies work together in partnership. Students usually get partial sponsorship and a year placement in industry Sponsored degree programme companies such as Barclays pay all fees and the student is effectively an employee of the company Student sponsorship – When a company or organisation sponsors a student. The student could have approached the company or done an internship. There will be an expectation of work placement in the company for one year or summer breaks

7 Apprenticeships These are courses that you complete alongside doing paid work. Students who have completed at east 2 A levels are elligible for higher apprenticeships. The employer pays your fees Higher apprenticeships from companies such as PWC, National Grid, Deloitte, Mercedes-Benz Degree apprenticeships from companies such as John Lewis, BT, Goldman Sachs, Jaguar Landrover.

8 Employment Full time or part time paid work with or without ‘at work’ learning opportunities.

11 Timeline 2017/18 Nov- Dec: Unifrog launch Aspire and Medic/Vet launch Jan- March: Unifrog tutorials One-one tutorials April – June: UCAS training June-Sept: Work experience Summer schools University open events

12 Timeline 2018/19 Sept - Dec: UCAS forms completed Oct 15th : Early completion deadline Jan- March: Interviews and offers May/June: Exams August 15th: Results day
