Do you want to be a super-chicken?
William Muir, Purdue University Studied productivity…with chickens Created a “super flock” Average group – feathered, plump and productive Super group – what did they do? After six generations had passed, what did he find? Well, the first group, the average group, was doing just fine. They were all plump and fully feathered and egg production had increased dramatically. What about the second group? Well, all but three were dead. They'd pecked the rest to death. (Laughter) The individually productive chickens had only achieved their success by suppressing the productivity of the rest. Our Communities. Your College. What makes some groups or work teams more successful than others?
Teams that have high degree of social sensitivity to each other (empathy) Successful groups give roughly equal time to each other More women MIT research conducted. Groups had to solve very difficult problems. IQ individually or in the aggregate did not matter. Social sensitivity did. So how does this play out in the real world? Well, it means that what happens between people really counts, because in groups that are highly attuned and sensitive to each other, ideas can flow and grow.People don't get stuck. They don't waste energy down dead ends. Our Communities. Your College. Pathways for Student Success and a Stronger Indiana.

So what about our story? We have so much in common…
We have so many differences… We started traveling together We started to see the dysfunction that existed We did something about it Work ethic Commitments to our responsibilities Commitments to our team Push through difficult situations Communication style Credentials Numbers Leadership from the Heart Challenging leadership changes Declining enrollments Then comes the reorg and we don’t even talk to each other, but just start doing Realized traveling together makes sense Learned more about each other RESPECT Trust, loyalty, communication Now a new reorg ---Dual Credit---4DX Our Communities. Let’s finish with some fun!
Empty your pockets for coins, pens, pencils, whatever We have brought a few tid bits also Create a logo that demonstrates your collective vision of an outstanding team For example, “The C Team” logo might be a pretzel. It’s a sign of how everyone is working together to make a strong team with cross functional lines! Our Communities. Your College. Pathways for Student Success and a Stronger Indiana.
