2. Facts you need to know
Winthrop 8th grade students are districted for both Central HS & Bassick HS, which is determined by your address.
All high schools will determine acceptance for the school year by 7th grade final grades, standardized test scores, attendance record, behavior reports, recommendations letters & 1st quarter 8th grade grades
Not all of the high school programs are full day
EVERY application requires a parent signature & will NOT be accepted without it!!!
Applications must be submitted to me by the deadline determined by counselor, not what is on the application.
Applications must be 100% complete (except for counselor portion) when they are submitted.
Application fees (private schools only) should be submitted directly to the high school
Applications cannot be submitted to surrounding public schools! Only the high schools with specialized programs have an admittance process.
Please call the high school for financial aid/scholarship programs

Information Technology and Software Engineering High School Students who select this theme will be engaged in the application of a systematic, disciplined, quantifiable approach to the design, development, operation and maintenance of software for careers in such fields as science modeling, gaming, animation, simulation and theater arts.
Zoological Science, Research and Biotechnology High School Science for research in partnership with Beardsley Zoo and local universities on the study of amphibians, for example, will be a focus. Curriculum will be designed to heighten an awareness of the environment and to stimulate a passion to develop solutions for environmental preservation. Use of the school's natural settings will enhance laboratory and classroom instruction
Physical Sciences, Engineering Aerospace/Hydrospace Science High School In this STEM-based program, students will learn the practical application of science and math to solve problems. Learning to use software, interacting with regional industry and collaborating with state and local universities, students will research, design and develop creative solutions for exploration and discovery.

Academy will offer students the opportunity to experience their secondary education in a challenging environment with an emphasis on excellence in academics while also exploring careers in public safety. Through partnerships among the Fire, Police, Homeland Security, Military Services and other public safety departments, students will be provided real world, hands-on opportunities to get certified in such areas as CPR, First Aid, FEMA courses, 911 Communications, and be offered physical training, community volunteer opportunities and internship programs.
