New England Massachusetts Bay, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Connecticut. Middle Atlantic New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware Southern Maryland, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia

3 New England Climate How they made their $$ Urban or Rural
Cold with short growing seasons and rocky soil. How they made their $$ Due to lack of farming possibilities they made money building ships, fishing, whaling, trading and making furniture Urban or Rural The way they made their money caused them to live closer together so it was mostly urban

4 Middle Atlantic Climate How they made their $$ Urban or Rural
Mild with longer growing season and rich soil. How they made their $$ Their land was good for lots of different things. They had small farms, manufacturing, textiles, mining and shipbuilding. Urban or Rural They had some large cities, like NYC and Philly, but also had some rural areas. Mixed population areas

5 Southern Colonies Climate How they made their $$ Urban or Rural
Warmest with the longest growing season and richest soil How they made their $$ Farming cash crops like tobacco and cotton on large plantations Urban or Rural Due to the need for space to grow crops most people lived far apart

6 Religion in the Colonies
New England VERY ORGANIZED RELIGION. Most of the colonist were seeking a place to get religious freedom and practice their religion. People attended church often. Middle Atlantic Religious with a greater variety of religions. Southern Very religious but not as organized people often studied the Bible more at home then at church
