Must pay your dues to be in the Resume Book How-to Instructions on Accounting Club TRACS and website MUST bring extra copies for Meet the Firms

7 What to Bring Padfolio Copies of your Resume Pen(s) Name Tag
Bookstore, Office Depot, Target Copies of your Resume FedEX by CVS Professional type of paper Pen(s) Name Tag Mints (not gum)

8 What to Wear for Women Outfit: Stick to Conservative
Business suit or skirt suit Black knee-length skirt or pants Nice blouse and a blazer Closed toe black shoes (heels below 3 inches) No excessive jewelry, make up, or perfume Stick to Conservative Nothing too tight, sheer, or flashy If in doubt- it’s probably a no Banana Republic, Target, H&M, J. Crew, Ann Taylor Ask friends for help!

9 What to Wear for Men The Suit: The Shirt: The Tie Shoes and Socks:
Sold color conservative suit such as black, navy Jacket should match pants. The Shirt: Neutral color such as white or beige; avoid bright colors and large prints. Button-down collar. The Tie Conservative silk tie that matches the colors in the suit. use solids, stripes or small patterns. Shoes and Socks: Leather, black or brown to match the suit. Buy a reversible belt to save money! Shoes must match belt. Dark socks that match the suit color. The Hair: Neat, professional hairstyle. Facial hair should be neatly trimmed, if any at all. Know your industry and how conservative it is.

Know your preferences Prepare questions to ask the firms 5 questions per firm Search website for things that interest you Practice these questions Network among your accounting peers Remember to take down notes Make yourself be memorable (in a good way)

11 Talking to a Firm Introduce yourself Resume
Elevator speech (name, graduate date, etc.) Resume Point out accomplishments Explain anything if needed Ask them if they have any questions OR Ask them one of your PREPARED questions Shake their hand, say thank you Ask how you should follow up or a take a business card

12 Following Up Email everyone you spoke to Be professional
If you have time, send a thank you card OR Hand deliver a thank you card PERSONALIZE them Be professional It’s okay to be yourself and laugh Just remember to stay professional

13 Overwhelmed? We are here to help
Talk to a Becker Professional or an officer We will introduce you to a firm! Have a list of what firms you want to talk to Prioritize the list Don’t start with your number 1 firm Practice makes perfect

14 Most Importantly Have a good attitude! Be professional and smile
