2 What is College Credit Plus?

3 College Credit Plus Replaces PSEO Replaces Dual Enrollment

Grades 7-12 College-ready students Many college course options Public colleges are free Private colleges may include a small cost

5 College-readiness determined by each college

6 Apply and Get Admitted Participate by getting admitted into a college
(Strongsville articulates with the following colleges: Cleveland State University, Cuyahoga Community College, Hiram College, Lake Erie College, Lakeland Community College, Lorain Community College, Kent State University, The University of Akron and Youngstown State University) May have to take a placement test and other criteria including minimum GPA at some four year schools.

7 Student Choice Students can choose MOST COURSES that apply toward a degree or workforce certification at a public (or participating private) college.

8 Graduate with College Credit
Earn up to 30 college credit hours per academic year; summer included No more than 120 college credit hours while in the program.

9 Find the Colleges and Courses that Fit
Students have options College counselors will share sample pathways with you Pathways are courses that help you choose, not obligate you

10 A semester college course of 3 or more credits counts as a one year high school class.

11 Under what scenarios can a qualified student use College Credit Plus?

12 You may want to take college courses to satisfy your high school graduation requirements
You completed your high school graduation required classes and you want to begin college work. You want to explore college and take a course in a subject that interests you.

13 Books and Fees Students attending a public college do not pay for either books or fees. Students attending a private college may have a cost that includes books and fees.

14 Student Covers Parking Expenses

15 Consider your personal academic goals.

16 If you fail the class or drop it too late (after the fourteenth day of the course), you WILL have to pay for it!

17 Weighted Grades AP Course College Course
College courses must be weighted the same as Advanced Placement in the same subject area.

18 Grades are Applied to Graduation Requirements
The grade you earn in the college course is applied to your high school graduation required class. Three to Five College Credit Hour courses earn a student one high school credit.

19 Deadline for Students: By March 24, you must tell us if you intend to participate next year by submitting the Intent to Participate Form to the Guidance Office

20 Procedure Attend high school or college’s CCP informational meeting.
Turn in Intent to Participate Form no later than March 24, 2017. Apply to college/colleges of choice. Request High School Transcript be sent to that college. Once accepted, bring course paperwork to be signed by your high school counselor verifying the courses you are taking and the amount of credit hours you are entitled to. Make an appointment with college advising counselor to schedule classes. Check back with high school counselor to make sure high school schedule is set.
