Project Examples Upgrading School Sanitation Facilities Info Theme Description Background Schools Toilets are considered a very critical place for diseases and students sickness, therefore Improving toilets could enhance sanitation and the general hygienic situation, It is important that students realize the importance of keeping such health-threatening places safe and clean. Project Examples Training with focus on Job Creation Info Theme Description Background In the informal areas there are a lack of sufficient public schools and centers for adults and the youth. This could cause a serious disruption of secured livelihood activities due to the lack of vocational skills Objectives Empower the interested participants in terms of vocational skills. Encourage young people and adults to build their capacities to maintain sustainable income generating activities. Project Examples Info Theme Description Background High levels of school dropouts which are continuing to increase. Lack of attractive school environment, poor school regularity, poor quality of teaching and lack of teacher attention as well as financial reasons. This causes poor learning in primary schools mainly elementary schools. If these students attend Prep (middle) school and beyond, they are unable to cope with the demand and eventually drop out. Objectives Encourage school dropouts to education and motivate school aged children to attend school which enables them to learn and achieve school success. This will lead to reduced school dropouts in the target areas and creates a higher educational status of the whole area Main project outputs Integration of school-dropped out children into the education system Decrease illiteracy rates in the local community Reduce child labor and abuse Boost child’s dignity and self confidence Main project activities Rapid assessment of school-dropout children Develop outreach plan Prepare project design including human resources, venues and material Advocate project ideas in the local community Involve local NGOs in design and implementation Implementing partners The British council, Youth Sports Trust, Islamic-Relief, local NGOs, Private sector companies as sponsors (e.g. Coca-Cola, Vodafone, MobiNil, etc.) Indicative Budget (€) 50,000 € (Recovery of 100 Dropouts * 500 €) Implementation Improving classroom environment for school students. Providing a para-teacher to provide individual attention to children Improve classroom infrastructure status/needs (e.g. electrification, lights, fans, notebooks, stationary, educational aides, computer education, nutritional supplementation and transportation access to school). Success Stories under the EU-Support for Social Development Project- SSD ( ) EU Projects already performed needed to be documented. NGO’s and CDA’s should acquire the skills on how to find and document success stories. Consideing as positive outcomes of their project. In addition, training were provided on how to formulate success stories. Exchanging experiences among projects working in similar areas of activities at each governorate.
