2 Lie = Falsehood Have you ever known someone to tell a lie?
Have you ever believed a lie? How many times have you told a lie?

3 Liar = Falsifier Why do you not understand My speech? Because you are not able to listen to My word. 44 You are of your father the devil, and the desires of your father you want to do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own resources, for he is a liar and the father of it. John 8:43-44 (NKJV)

4 Liar = Falsifier He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son. 8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death." Rev 21:7-8 (NKJV)

5 “Popular Lies of the Devil”
(John 8:43-44)

6 Popular Lies of the Devil…
“God’s word is not true.” Gen. 3:1-5; Jn. 8:31-32; 17:17

7 Popular Lies of the Devil…
“God’s word is not true.” “You don’t REALLY need to go to all of the worship services.” Rev. 12:10; Heb. 12:15

8 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Matt 6:33 (NKJV) He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. Matt 10:37 (NKJV) On the first day of the week let each one of you lay something aside, storing up as he may prosper, that there be no collections when I come. 1 Cor 16:2 (NKJV)

9 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
Now on the first day of the week, when the disciples came together to break bread, Paul, ready to depart the next day, spoke to them and continued his message until midnight. Acts 20:7 (NKJV) And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25  not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. Heb 10:24-25 (ESV) Obey those who rule over you, and be submissive, for they watch out for your souls, as those who must give account. Let them do so with joy and not with grief, for that would be unprofitable for you. Heb 13:17 (NKJV)

10 Popular Lies of the Devil…
“God’s word is not true.” “You don’t REALLY need to go to all of the worship services.” “There are multiple ways to enter the kingdom of God.” 1 Cor. 1:10-13; Matt. 7:13-14; Jn. 3:3-5; 14:6; Cf. Josh. 1:7-8

11 Popular Lies of the Devil…
“Following God’s word is too difficult & will deny you of life’s pleasures.” 1 Pet. 5:8; 2 Cor. 11:13-15; Matt. 4; Lk. 4; Deut. 10:12-13; 1 Sam. 12:20-25

12 For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments
For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome. Happy are the people who are in such a state; Happy are the people whose God is the Lord! Psalms 144:15 (NKJV) He who heeds the word wisely will find good, And whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he. Prov 16:20 (NKJV) A faithful man will abound with blessings, But he who hastens to be rich will not go unpunished. Prov 28:20 (NKJV) Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; But happy is he who keeps the law. Prov 29:18 (NKJV)

13 Popular Lies of the Devil…
“Following God’s word is too difficult & will deny you of life’s pleasures.” “God will grant concession(s) in your case.” Gen. 19; Lev. 10; Josh. 7; 2 Sam. 6; Rom. 2:11; Col. 3:25

14 Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments.
"Not everyone who says to Me, 'Lord, Lord,' shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, 'Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?' 23 And then I will declare to them, 'I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!' Matt 7:21-23 (NKJV) He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. 1 John 2:4 (NKJV)

15 Popular Lies of the Devil…
“Following God’s word is too difficult & will deny you of life’s pleasures.” “God will grant concession(s) in your case.” “There isn’t going to be a Judgment Day.” 2 Pet. 3:3-10; Jas. 5:7-8; Acts 17:30-31

16 Popular Lies of the Devil…
“Following God’s word is too difficult & will deny you of life’s pleasures.” “God will grant concession(s) in your case.” “There isn’t going to be a Judgment Day.” “You have plenty of time to obey God.”

17 You have plenty of time to obey God?
Now as he reasoned about righteousness, self-control, and the judgment to come, Felix was afraid and answered, "Go away for now; when I have a convenient time I will call for you." Acts 24:25 (NKJV) See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. Eph 5:15-17 (NKJV) For He says: "In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you." Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation. 2 Cor 6:2 (NKJV)

18 Conclusion The point of this lesson has been to direct our focus on the need for distinctive preaching. Preaching that not only conforms to the truth of God’s word; but also exposes the many errors that lead men astray. We must be astutely aware of that fact -- and study, pray & live accordingly.

19 WHAT MUST I DO TO BE A CHRISTIAN?
Jesus taught obedience (Matt. 7:21-23; 28:20; Lk. 6:46)  Jesus taught that unless we believe in Him, we will die in our sins (Jn. 10:31-39)  He taught repentance (Lk. 13:3; 24:46-47)  He taught confessing Him before others (Matt. 10:32- 33)  He taught baptism as a necessity (Mk. 16:15-16; Matt. 28:19-20; Jn. 3:5)  He teaches faithfulness unto death (Rev. 2:10)
