your adversary the devil 8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. 9 Resist him, steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. 1 Peter 5:8-9

escape the snare of the devil 24 And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, 25 in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth, 26 and that they may come to their senses and escape the snare of the devil, having been taken captive by him to do his will. 2 Timothy 2:24-26

lest Satan should take advantage of us his devices 11 …lest Satan should take advantage of us; for we are not ignorant of his devices. 2 Corinthians 2:11

Can you recognize Satan’s footprints in your life?

2 Cor. 2:5-11 – Satan will often use discouragement to drive a wedge between a Christian and the church Because you were wronged by another Because of major life issues, challenges or changes Because of trials, challenges and difficulties as a Christian Satan wants “to take advantage of us” Discouragement

Satan wins if we… cf. Col. 3:12-14; Eph. 4:31-32 Let anger, hurt and offense prevail over mercy, grace and forgiveness – cf. Col. 3:12-14; Eph. 4:31-32 cf. 2 Cor. 12:7-10 Let the cares of this life turn us from the only true source of strength to endure – cf. 2 Cor. 12:7-10 cf. Acts 14:21-22 Let trials and tribulations deny our entrance into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord – cf. Acts 14:21-22 Discouragement

Matt. 13:18-23 Matt. 13:18-23 – One of Satan’s most effective devices is distraction from the word and will of God! If Satan can get us discouraged in some way, he will easily distract us with other “things” to draw us away If Satan can’t discourage us, he can still effectively use distraction to keep us from giving all to the Lord If Satan can keep us busy with the “things” of this world, he can keep us from the things of God Satan does not have to get us to outright reject God! Distraction

We give Satan power over us when we… cf. Luke 8:11-15 Let the cares of this world choke the seed and cause us to be unfruitful – cf. Luke 8:11-15 cf. Jas. 4:1-8 Make ourselves friends of this world, effectively becoming enemies of God – cf. Jas. 4:1-8 cf. Heb. 11:24-26 Choose the passing pleasures of sin over the riches of Christ – cf. Heb. 11:24-26 Distraction

John 8:34-47 John 8:34-47 – Satan’s greatest weapon is deception! Where discouragement and distraction fail, deception will many times succeed All Satan has to do is get us to believe a lie and he has us right where he wants us cf. 1 Thess. 2:9-12 If we are so determined to believe a lie, God will even reinforce that falsehood – cf. 1 Thess. 2:9-12 cf. 1 John 2:15-17 When it comes to lies, Satan has three major tools that are very effective against us – cf. 1 John 2:15-17 Deception

Satan’s deceptions come in many forms… cf. 1 Tim. 6:6-10 Wealth will make you happy – cf. 1 Tim. 6:6-10 cf. Heb. 4:12-15 A little sin won’t hurt – cf. Heb. 4:12-15 cf. Heb. 10:23-26 You can be faithful without assembling with the church – cf. Heb. 10:23-26 cf. Rom. 3:9-18, 23; 6:23 If you are a reasonably good person, you will go to heaven – cf. Rom. 3:9-18, 23; 6:23 cf. 1 Peter 4:1-6 Everyone else is doing it (they can’t all be wrong) – cf. 1 Peter 4:1-6 Deception

above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints… Ephesians 6:14-18

devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone 10 The devil, who deceived them, was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone where the beast and the false prophet are. And they will be tormented day and night forever and ever. anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire 15 And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire. Revelation 20:10, 15

the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone 8 But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” Revelation 21:8
