Learning from comparable programs: Programs tend to not capture large numbers, but tend to be important to membership More associations are viewing mentoring as an important and necessary offering Clear expectations regarding mentee and mentor expectations are critical to forming good relationships Thorough mentor vetting can assist with relationship development Successful programs generally have mentoring as an aspect of credentialing (education hours or PDUs) Programs generally have few restrictions on mentees, with greater restrictions on mentors Mentoring programs require staff support of at least ¼ FTE (for smaller programs) 17-Sep-18

Old system was not IEEE branded, old design, and looked like vendor software Cost savings to IEEE New vendor is the recommended provider of mentoring software by ASAE When: Scheduled for launch in Q2 2013 When: Scheduled for launch in Q2 2013 What is changing?: Replacement of current Mentoring system with new, SaaS software (Boxwood) Better user experience with Single Sign On (SSO) and consistent IEEE look and feel Add new educational materials on the mentoring relationship for Mentors and Mentees Enhanced system for matching Mentors and Mentees Benefits to the Member: Better user experience User never appears to leave IEEE Better instruction and tips on the mentoring interaction and relationship Who is the audience?: GOLD product Can be used by any IEEE member higher than student grade Targeted at matching recent graduates with experienced IEEE members Why? Former vendor used a system that was not IEEE branded, looked like someone else’s product Former software also had a old design to it, with outdated look and feel New vendor also presents cost savings to IEEE, while providing better service and SaaS platform New vendor is the recommended provider of mentoring software by ASAE 9/17/2018

Creation of educational materials to help guide mentors and mentees (PDF format for now) Revamped and revised IEEE.tv video Increased staff time to help assist those using the system and manage the process Built in surveys after each mentoring partnership, increasing availability of metrics to guide IEEE action 9/17/2018
