Welcome to fourth grade!
Mrs. Clark Welcome to fourth grade! This will be my 13th year teaching fourth grade and my 23rd year as an educator.

Homework POLICY You can expect homework
Monday through Thursday night. This includes reading 20 mins. nightly. Students write their h.w. in agendas daily. We use the plastic green folder for h.w as well as sending home graded work.

Language ARTS We will spend time learning about proper grammar as well as writing multi- paragraph essays. Students write in journals daily.

Language ARTS Students complete a language morning work review Monday-Thursday. On Friday there is a review quiz that spirals through learned curriculum.

READING This year students will work
reading comprehension of both fiction and nonfiction.

Most instruction is given in guided small math groups.
MATHEMATICS Most instruction is given in guided small math groups. Daily students complete a STAR Math review that spirals concepts. On Friday students will take a STAR Math Quiz.

Students do not take a Science SOL test.
Students will learn about natural resources, solar system, weather and much more this year. Students do not take a Science SOL test.

Virginia STUDIES Students will be learning about Virginia’s history starting with Jamestown in 1607. Students have an interactive notebook that we work on in class. Students will take a VS SOL in May

Study Guides Students will receive a study guide well in advance of Science and Social Studies tests. These study guides are also linked on my KWC web page.

Most Assessments are taken
on the computer using Power School, so you will not receive a graded copy of the test. Grades will be posted in ParentVUE.

Assessments: Test and Quiz dates are written in agendas well in advance. I also do my best to send out Remind texts

Grading POLICY Student’s work is graded as follows: 4-1
The higher number they earn, better they did on the assessment

Grading POLICY Grades must be posted on ParentVUE within ten days, but I normally have them posted within 2 days.

Our class has a fuzzy economy.
Fuzzies Students have the opportunity to earn Fuzzies and use them to buy items. Our class has a fuzzy economy.

Crayons were not on the supply list, but are highly recommended.
School SUPPLIES Crayons were not on the supply list, but are highly recommended. Students may have a pencil sharpener as long as can contain the pencil shavings.

Power School Students are assigned a weekly math and reading Power School (formally IA) review to complete on the computer during class each week.

BYOT- Bring Your Own Technology
We are rolling out BYOT this year. Students will complete a digital citizenship before we begin BYOT. Once BYOT begins, students may bring their own devices. Devices need to 7” and are optional.
