2 History of International Baccalaureate
IB originated in Geneva, Switzerland in 1965 IB Americas office is located in Bethesda, Maryland There are currently 4,562 IB World Schools in 136 countries There are 1,769 IB Programs in the United States, including Diploma Program, Career-related Program, Middle Years Program, and Primary Years Program (we have all four in our district!) Each year, approximately 80% of the students who attempt the IB Diploma earn it.

3 Uniqueness of SKHS’s IB Programs
IB Coordinator available on B-days and often after school IB candidates fill out Progress Reports twice each semester IB candidates have an IB Four-Year Academic Plan (personal interview with each candidate and his/her parent(s) and the IB coordinator) IB Action Club for peer support IB Theory of Knowledge/Research is two full years IB Candidates are recruited by many universities IB Candidates are often recommended for numerous scholarships

13 IB Assessment Fees For DP and CP students:
One-time registration fee of $172* Exam fee of $119* per exam For “course-candidate” students: Registration fee of $172* for each year testing Exam fees are due in full by November 1 of the year(s) you will be testing, or students/families can go on a payment plan of eight equal payments from October to May of the testing year(s). $886 for DP candidates (6 IB subjects) $410 for CP candidates (2 IB subjects) *May 2018 Exam Fees
