37 Advanced Placement Exams 65.6% of respondents indicated that they had taken AP exams for a total of 13,357 AP exams (about 3.8 exams per examining IB/AP student) Of the 3516 students that indicated the grade level in which AP exams were taken: –1% took exams in 9 th grade –47.1% took exams in 10 th grade –77.5% took exams in 11 th grade –66.8% took exams in 12 th grade © IBO 2003

40 AP and IB Exam Result Comparison The following tables present the percentage of IB Diploma Programme students (both Diploma and Certificate candidates) earning a 5, 6, or 7* on an IB SL exam as well as a 3, 4, or 5** on an AP exam in a similar subject area. Both AP and IB exams were taken in the same year. *IB SL exams are usually not accepted by universities and colleges for credit and/or advanced placement. **AP exams scores of 3, 4, or 5 are usually accepted by universities and colleges for credit and/or advanced placement. © IBO 2003
