Foundation Chapter Champion
2016 SHRM Foundation Chapter Champion We received this honor because we completed all three SHRM Foundation activities outlined in the SHAPE workbook: made a donation to the SHRM Foundation from chapter funds, conducted a leadership campaign, and hosted a fundraising event to benefit the SHRM Foundation.

EXCEL Platinum Chapter
2016 SHRM EXCEL Platinum Chapter There are 4 award levels: Bronze, Silver, Gold & Platinum LSHRM was awarded Platinum, the highest honor, for our success in four areas: Membership, Certification, Community Outreach and Increasing Student Membership.

Academic Scholarships
For the first time, LSHRM provided two $500 academic scholarships to Tech SHRM student members, totaling $1,000! Jessica Layton Kristen Phan

Congratulations! Tech SHRM for being awarded the
SHRM Outstanding Student Chapter award. The Tech SHRM chapter was one of only 20 chapters out of an applicant pool of 300 to receive this prestigious award, and is the second Texas-based student chapter to ever be recognized at the national level.

Congratulations! Tech SHRM for winning Overall Student Organization of the Year from the Texas Tech Center for Campus Life! This award recognizes Tech SHRM's success in helping members transition from college to a career in human resources, their outstanding leadership and coordination of effective activities.

Congratulations! Tech SHRM for winning the Cooperation and Communication award from Raiders Who Rock! This award recognizes outstanding students, faculty, and staff who make Texas Tech a better community for all of its members.

Congratulations! Vivian Luu received the $2,500 Larry Burk Memorial Undergraduate Scholarship from the SHRM Foundation! Out of nearly 100 applicants, Vivian was chosen and awarded based on her accomplishments, scholastic abilities, and superior leadership potential.

Congratulations! Jessica Layton for being awarded a
2017 Excellence in Education Scholarship from HRSouthwest. Jessica was awarded a scholarship because she consistently demonstrates excellence in her academic pursuits as well as her professional life.

Tech SHRM Industry Tours
Students learned first hand how HR professionals add value to each industry and how the size of each business could affect the HR department’s job duties and policies. Lubbock (Spring Tour) 13 students visited Lubbock County, Tyler Technologies and Covenant Dallas (Fall Tour) 11 students visited Toyota, Invitation Homes, UTA MS in HR Program and Legends Hospitality at the Cowboy Stadium

2017 SHRM Learning System Champion The SHRM Learning System Champion status is a recognition of LSHRM’s work to elevate the HR profession through professional development and HR knowledge among members, gained from SHRM certification.
