7 Plagiarism Check Skim the article for numbers: dates, percentages, populations, demographics, etc. Circle all numbers. If a number is not written within quotes or a cited paraphrased portion of text, starting with “According to” and ending with a citation like (Smith), then write a ‘P’ in the margin next to the plagiarized fact.

If the sentence ends in a question or exclamation mark, those are placed at the end of the sentence; but, a period still goes after the citation.
