1 Trade with someone next to you and grab a pink, yellow, and green highlighter

2 Introductory Paragraph Does your partner have an engaging attention grabber? Question, quote or interesting fact. If the grabber is not engaging or is boring, please make a note of how your partner could improve. Does your partner have 2-3 sentences that summarizes Romeo and Juliet. For example, The play Romeo and Juliet features two star-crossed lovers from rival families. Romeo and Juliet go through a series of heart breaking events over the course of four days that ends in their tragic suicide. Finally, does your partner have a thesis that includes the name of the play, the author, the theme, and how it emerges, develops, and culminates?

3 Body Paragraphs Please take your highlights and highlight for statement-proof- commentary. Their statement should look something like this: The theme love as a cause of violence first emerges in Romeo and Juliet when Romeo kills Tybalt. The statement should connect back to their thesis. If their statement looks similar to the example, highlight it in green. Proof should be an INTRODUCED quote WITH a citation! For example, Romeo shouted in the streets of Verona, “______” (3.1.22-28). If they did this properly, highlight in pink. Commentary should be AT LEAST three sentences. Commentary should answer the questions of why is this happening? Why does the quote show the theme? This is NOT a summary of the quote or the scene. If they did this properly, highlight in yellow.

4 Conclusion Did your partner restate the thesis? Three reasons THEN your theme. 3 sentences summarizing each body paragraph Final concluding statement
