2. Question One
The emotion we have chosen to portray in the video is fear. Amanda and I and use conventions for this video by placing Marissa (the main character) alone in the house. When Marissa hears a noise she gets scared, but the fact that she is alone and helpless adds to the fear aspect. The extract from Stranger things also uses the idea of someone being alone and helpless at home. The young boy is seen searching his home for family members because he sees an intruder, but soon realizes he is isolated and without help.

3. Question one (continued)
Amanda and I also use conventions by later into the video placing Marissa in a dark setting. Darkness, for one is usually associated with fear. In the dark you can not see what is coming next. This causes the viewers to become nervous and worry as to what will happen. The extracts from Stranger Things and American Horror story also use the dark setting to create fear in the audience.

4. Question One (Continued)
To use conventions in our video, Amanda and I used a medium close up on Marissa’s face. A medium close up is also used in one of my research clips from Silence of the Lambs. This technique is used on the guard’s face to show that he is scared and weak at that given moment. We took inspiration from that clip and used a medium close up for that reason too. Since Marissa is scared and weak at that moment it contributes to the overall meaning of the video, fear.

5. question one (continued)
My video represents the social issue of being in an unsafe situation. Marissa the main character is seen home alone with an intruder in her house. The intruder then eventually takes her. Though not everyone has been in this exact situation, some have been in similar ones. Being in a dangerous place can also be seen in the extract from American horror story. The boy is seen alone in a house with his brother, and is found with his neck slit by a monster of some sort.

6. question two
Our product is made for audiences teens and up. By the time a person is a teen they will be faced with staying home alone. Being home alone can sometimes cause someone to be faced with the fear, or actually have an intruder come into one’s home. So, one can make a connection with this video at some point in their life.
Our product can be distributed as real media text on websites or apps like Netflix, Amazon, or Hulu. It would first have to be displayed on social media so the video would become popular enough to be featured on these apps. Some social media platforms it can be seen on is: Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook. Trailers on Youtube have the ability to been seen by millions of people. We can also release this video to Youtube to receive a larger audience too.

7. question three
My production skills developed throughout the project because I was a lot more hands for filming and editing. For majority of the filming process I was the one recording. In the last project I only got to film one shot. While filming Amanda and I also learned how to work with lighting better. Creating dark enough lighting, and still having it light enough for filming was complicated. In the end we managed to accomplish dark enough lighting while having it still be light enough for the camera.

8. question three (continued)
My skills in editing also have become better throughout the duration of the project. The last preliminary task that was given, no one let me use the editing software. During the time Amanda and I edited she asked for my input more. I had a chance during this project to actually use the editing software, and say if I agree with the decisions made for the video.

The camera we used was a Rebel Camera and a tripod for filming the actual video.
