8 World Class Performance Programme
To ensure that the UK’s most talented athletes have every chance of realising their potential, UK Sport has created the World Class Performance Programme. The Programme covers all summer Olympic and Paralympic sports, together with the high-performing winter Olympic sports and operates at two distinct levels:

9 World Class Talent Identification
The Performance Pathway Team is a collaboration between UK Sport and the English Institute of Sport (EIS). It supports World Class Programmes to identify and develop talented athletes and the construction of the underpinning support systems.

10 National Talent ID Programmes
The UK Performance Pathway Team has run seven National athlete recruitment projects, which have assessed over 7,000 athletes all of whom were previously unknown to the UK World Class system and sports: Sporting Giants Girls 4 Gold Pitch to Podium

11 WCPP Stages Podium - supporting athletes with realistic medal winning capabilities at the next Olympic/Paralympic Games (i.e. a maximum of four years away from the podium) Podium Potential – comprising of athletes whose performances have suggested that they have realistic medal winning capabilities for 2020 and newly funded sports that are demonstrating the ability to be competitive by 2020
