4 2012 Olympic Games OTP involved as performance partner with all medal sports Bronze in womens soccer was first medal in summer team sports since 1936 Team sport strategy contributed to solid performance for womens basketball Finished 13 th – 2 medals out of being tied for 11th Target of top 12 in total medals was very attainable Won medals in more sports (11) than we have since 2000 No significant increase in number of top 8 finishes Quality technical leadership is key to podium success Huge financial investments being made by competing nations

6 Paralympic Games Canada took a noticeable step back relative to other leading nations Good performance from swimming, mens wheelchair basketball and wheelchair rugby Focus on increasing depth of 3 big sports – swimming, athletics and cycling. A more deliberate recruitment and talent id strategy is required for these 3 sports. Collaborative approach is needed. Thorough assessment required regarding future strategy. Given competitive landscape, going forward will consider a gold medal performance target and total medal target for Canada.

10 2014-16 Goals Canada has a National Talent Identification and Development Strategy focused on future Olympic and Paralympic champions Canada has 4 fully functioning CSIs with investments from provinces and private sector CSIs provide a world leading daily training environment for top athletes and coaches NSOs have effective high performance plans and programs in place System Excellence

11 2014-16 Goals Canada has functioning Integrated Support Teams for all targeted sports Canada has a comprehensive professional development program uplifting performance services to a world class level Targeted investments in CSIs supporting daily training environment for multiple sports at single location Sport Science, Medicine and Innovation

12 2014-16 Goal OTP has become an independent organization securing necessary funding to sustain and enhance funding and support of podium performance in targeted sports Organizational Excellence

16 Investment in Category 1 and 2 sports can extend to 8 years with focus on system development within hp program Investment in Category 3 sports is limited to 2 year commitment to HP program and 4 year commitment to coaching and technical leadership.
