Pokuru school has high expectations for students to achieve at their best. Students are involved in setting goals, challenging themselves, reflecting on their progress and learning to learn. They manage themselves and develop confidence and perseverance.

6. Leadership We have many chances to be good leaders in the school like
School Councillors. Enviroschools leaders, Pokuru Pal leaders or Kapa Haka leaders

7. Pokuru Pals helps the younger children to meet some seniors and teaches the seniors to be leaders

8. We get the chance to compete and to do the best that we can do
Sporting days
We get the chance to compete and to do the best that we can do

9. Cross country, Athletics Interschools
Each year students from Pokuru go to interschool athletics and cross country

10. Kapa haka
We get the chance to learn about Maori culture and to perform waiata. We learn to be leaders and to compete against other schools.

11. Being parts of a school production lets us show our talents to others
Being parts of a school production lets us show our talents to others. We learn to be confident on stage. We practise until it is just right.
