3 Learning Objectives Understand how to locate resources in the school’s Media Center Create accounts and practice logging into various apps and websites needed for class Demonstrate the ability to upload documents to turnitin.com & to share Google Docs

4 Media Center Orientation 60+ minutes
Materials Needed: Bring your belongings! Highlighter & pencil/pen Instructions: Read & listen to all instructions! Media Center Orientation/Scavenger Hunt: Media Center Specialists will instruct you. Login Practice ( , NCEdCloud, turnitin.com, & WCPSS Google Apps): Follow the instructions on the next slide. Post Marigolds SAF to turnitin.com

5 Login Practice 1. Login to Wake ID Portal (on the GHHS website). You will need your student ID. Wake ID Portal is used to access PowerSchool , student , and SchoolNet (on-line tests quizzes). Record your student ID and password in a safe place. 2. Login into my.hrw.com to access your on-line textbook. Codes are on page 4 of the syllabus. 3. Login to Google Apps You will need to use your student . After you have completed this: *Create a Google Doc and title it “(Your Last Name) Textbook Search”. *Type your answers to the following questions (you will need to access the on- line textbook): 1. What pages does “The Necklace” begin and end on? 2. Who wrote this story? 3. Have you ever read this story, and if so, when? *Share the document with me. You will need my name and/or address. Login to Turnitin You will find instructions for creating your Turnitin account on the class website. BE SURE TO USE THE CODES FOR THE CORRECT PERIOD! Record your address and password in a safe place. *After you have created your account, login. *Upload your Marigolds SAF to turnitin.com by 9p.m. on Monday, 9/4. 5. If you finish early, work on your homework & sign-up for Remind homework messages!

6 Clean-up & Announcements 5 minutes
Clean-up your work area: Dispose of garbage Return pencils & makers Homework: Finish reading The Marigolds by Eugenia Collier. Create a STEAL Chart for Lizabeth. Write your SAF response & upload it to turnitin.com by 9p.m. on 9/4. Enjoy your weekend!
