2 PPC Session this week Timeslots this week: Discussion Topic(s):
1 Session: Thursday, 10:30am – 12:00 noon (Lotus Suite #12) Discussion Topic(s): Hierarchical Networks Input Documents/Contributions PPC Ad-hoc report on Hierarchical networks (80216ppc-11_0004) Text proposal for cooperative small base-stations in Hierarchical Networks (C80216ppc-11_0011.doc) Output Modified input-contribution (C80216ppc-11_0011r1.doc) Updated Hierarchical Network Study Report (80216ppc-11_0004r1).

3 Discussion on ITU-R’s study report on Cognitive Radio Technologies
Imata Satoshi (KDDI) volunteered to lead an ad-hoc group that will consider Whether we need to preparing WG’s inputs to the ITU-R’s study report. If yes, which section in the ITU-R report we are commenting upon What should be the format of our inputs Imata Satoshi will prepare a PPC contribution to Session #76 (Atlanta) providing A summary of the discussions and Recommendations of the ad-hoc group, if any, regarding submission (which sections, what fomat) of inputs to the ITU-R Study report.

4 Appendix NOTES FROM THE SESSION

5 Agenda Presentation of the contribution C80216ppc-11_0011.doc Follow-up on the ITU-R tutorial (Cognitive Radio)

6 Discussion on the Contribution
Problem statement As we move towards small cell deployments, we need a mechanism to connect the small BSs Proposal Wireless connectivity in the Infrastructure Includes the following: Connection between Macro and Small Cell BS, Among Small Cell BSs and Connectivity of the SC BSs to the core/access network. Aspects to consider Signaling for cooperation, Among SC BSs SC BS and Macro Backhauling of data. In-band as well as out-of-band can be considered.

7 Discussion on the Input contribution
Are we talking about In-band or out-of-band? Is the proposal to standardize backhauling? Or just the signaling? What kind of topologies? Mesh, P2P, P2MP among BSs? There are solutions being considered for instance based on 60 GHz (high directionality is a pro, but unlicensed operation is a threat). Other possibility is e-Band ( nd GHz) Unlicensed band in 5GHz Discussions on updates to the proposed text. Inuk to update the Study report with 11r1.

8 ITU-R Tutorial Follow-up
Are the multi-RAT, multi-mode scenarios described in the ITU-R’s CR study report covered in the PPC’s Hierarchical Network Study Report? Section 2.2 covers some part (only covers .11) If other RATs are of interest, these could be added. Focus is HO between 3GPP and WiMAX Need to do a gap analysis between what NWG has already addressedand what needs to be added. Preparing inputs for the ITU-R based on the Study Report If useful, how about submitting a contribution to ITU-R? If we decide to go that way, we have to have a major re-haul of the current stud report. Imata-san volunteered to lead a discussion group that would consider the scope of the ITU-R Study report Consider WG’s scope Make recommendations on what the possible inputs from WG could be
