2 Introduction Balochistan is the province which is facing a great and vital problem i.e. “Refugees” a. From Afghanistan (International). b. From Iran (International). c. Punjab, Sindh & NWFP-Domestic pressure of population and migration from other provinces in search of Job opportunities.

3 Similarly the province was severely affected by long spell of drought (about 8 years). Which resulted the failure stories in the field of Agriculture and Livestock sectors. a. Almost 58% Agriculture sector was affected (Economic survey of Pakistan 2007). b. 73% Livestock sector was affected (Economic survey of Pakistan 2007).

4 Quetta is the city which was planned only for 50,000 Population
Quetta is the city which was planned only for 50,000 Population. Now, the limit is crossed (approximately more then 2 Million) At the same time the population of the province was increased with an alarming ratio. To feed this huge population of the province along with the extra burden of the “Refugees” it is impossible to do so. Therefore more efforts are needed to be planed.

5 Family Size The typical Pastoon & Baloch Culture never allow them to keep the family size very limited or smaller. Ultimately, the average family size would be more then 7 or 8 person per family.

6 Why Food Crises in Balochistan (Agriculture & Livestock Sector)
Low productivity per unit area. Low yielding varieties of Crops + Fruits. Limited information about latest and innovative Agriculture and Livestock. Lack of proper breeds of Livestock (Meat + Milk).

7 Why Food Crises in Balochistan
Regular availability of Electricity for Agriculture ? Rise-up in fuel prices - which is a major need for Agriculture None utilization of Solar and wind power.

8 HOPE FOR BRIGHT FUTURE (Agriculture: Crops + Fruits)
(Livestock: Meat + Milk) High yield verities of Crops. Better I.C.M. (integrated crop margent). Maximum production per unit. Tunnel Technology. Better utilization of available resources (Water + Soil + Seed + Fertilizer + Pesticides) Maximum meat & Milk producing breeds of Livestock. Best utilization, management and supervision of grazing areas in the province.

Agriculture Livestock Solution Human Being Fodder + Range Land improvement Grass Species + Salt Bush

10 LIVESTOCK SECTOR Camoori milk producing breed (poor man cow).
Teddy Goats meat producing breed + cross breed (with any local breed) milk producing. Narri master meat producing breed (F3) is introduced in the Province. Sheep Breeding (in cold zone) Goat Breeding (in hot zone)

11 AGRICULTURE SECTOR Agriculture Sector Mode / Dhaka / Sudan grasses.
Salt bush Wheat (60 Munds per acre) Low Delta Crops (Olive + Pistachio etc) Grapes (Five imported + improved varieties) Atom Royal. Red Globe. Thompson Seedless. Crimson Seedless. Princess.
