We will analyze push and pull factors for migration using scenario cards and a chart.

4 Push Factors Push factor—causes people to leave a place.
Think about what would cause you to break up with someone …normally negative characteristics.

5 Pull Factors Pull factor—draws or attracts people to a place.
Think about what attracts you to a cute boy or girl…normally nice features.

Set up your notes, leave plenty of space: Push Factors Pull Factors E (economic) S (social) P (political) N (nature)

11 Scenarios You and your partner will receive a scenario card.
Read it and move to the push or pull side of the room. Then decide if the factor is economic, social, political or nature and post your card under that symbol. After each pair has posted its card, move about the room, taking notes on your chart.

Push Factors Pull Factors E (economic): unemployment, poverty E (economic): better jobs, available jobs S (social) high crime, bad education, oppressive society. 13 Processing You have a friend at another school (Watkins, Thornton, another HS). Send him/her a text message to convince him/her of two reasons they should leave their school (PUSH FACTORS) and two reasons to move to our school (PULL FACTORS). *YES, YOU CAN/SHOULD USE YOUR “LOL, G2G, OMG, TOTES, &, B/C, etc”
