2 Microsoft Lync Connecting People in New Ways, Anytime, Anywhere*
Reduce cost through converged communications Adopt quickly through ease of use and Microsoft® Office Improve productivity through integrated experiences Slide Objective: In response to the present communications barriers, discuss the positioning statements of Microsoft Lync Server 2010. Talking Points: So, at its center, Microsoft Lync Server 2010 is about helping people connect, even when they are not physically present together. It’s about connecting people in new ways—anywhere, anytime. Lync Server 2010 ushers in a new, connected experience that can help to transform every communication into an interaction—one that is collaborative, engaging, and accessible from almost anywhere. A single interface unites voice; instant messaging (IM); and audio, video, and Web conferencing into a richer, more contextual offering. Plus, a single identity makes it easier and faster for users to find contacts, check their availability, and connect with them. Lync Server works consistently with Microsoft Office, enriching the experience of familiar applications like Microsoft Outlook®, Microsoft Word, Microsoft SharePoint®, and more. Value Propositions: Drive adoption through ease of use and Microsoft Office: Lync Server 2010 provides a consistent communications experience across all platforms. Features such as the Contact Card; click to communicate from Microsoft Word, Excel®, and PowerPoint®; and presence in SharePoint can help to link communications—no matter what applications are being used. Reduce costs through converged communications: Rolling an organization’s communication devices into one platform can reduce costs. With this approach, the communication workloads can be integrated with desktop applications, and audio, video, and Web conferencing can decrease third-party carrier spending. Simplify deployment and migration through interoperability: Broad interoperability through standards and documented protocols can smooth deployment for customers. IM, voice, conferencing, and SIP trunking services are combined into one system to connect customers with Lync Server 2010 sooner. Let’s look at these benefits in more detail. Instant Messaging and Presence Audio, Video, Web Conferencing Voice and PBX Replace *Access from mobile devices depends on WiFi capability or mobile network availability.

5 Lync Online – Key Features & Benefits At Launch
Connect with others through Lync contact photos, activity feed, and interactive contact card in Office. Move easily from IM into online meetings, including audio, video, and screen sharing. Conduct online presentations including audio, video, screen sharing, and a virtual whiteboard. Invite external contacts to easily join online meetings via a PC or web-based client. Connect with customers and partners through IM, audio, and video federation. Slide Objective: Concise view of the top features and benefits which will be available at launch Talking Points: Lync Online is a cloud communications service that connects people in new ways with anyone, anywhere. The top features that make this a reality are: Slick, new user interface that includes contact photos (so you can recognize your colleagues in a meeting), dynamic activity feed to quickly know what the people in your network are working on, and better contact card experience in office that let’s you click to communicate from anywhere in Office. Ad-hoc online meetings that include audio, video, and screen or application sharing – you typically start with presence and IM (in response to an for example) and then with a few mouse clicks add audio/video and screen sharing as necessary to resolve issues effectively and quickly. The same great experience is available for scheduled online meetings (or web conferences) with an easy to use outlook add-in for scheduling and one-click to join from outlook reminders. External participants can join an online meeting using either a web client and dialing in on a phone, or a rich client that has the full capabilities. Finally, Lync Online extends all these rich communication capabilities to people outside of your organization. With IM federation you can see presence, instant message, make pc-to-pc calls and have ad-hoc meetings with other Lync users (on-premises and online). In addition you can communicate with your Windows Live Messenger contacts using Lync.

6 Microsoft Lync Online – Capability Overview
Voice (Dial Tone) Enterprise IM Conferencing PBX Replace Lync Online (Cloud) Future Release N/A Slide Objective: Provide a high level overview and timeline of which Lync capabilities are going to be available in the cloud (and when) Talking Points: Lync Online is the cloud version of the Lync, with Microsoft hosting the Lync servers and customers consume Lync as a service. Lync Online is one component of the Office 365 suite of services, which also includes the 2010 versions of Exchange, SharePoint and Office. This slide provides a comparison of the Lync Online capabilities with those of the Lync Server. Going from left to right, you can see that IM/presence and conferencing (online meetings) will be available at Office 365 launch in Lync Online. Voice, which is essentially the ability to call the public phone networks (think dial tone in Lync), will become available in the cloud several months after Lync Online launches. PBX replace capabilities, which include features that require integration with on-premises networks and equipment is not planned to be available in Lync Online in the next few years. This means that customers who are looking to take advantage of the full PBX replace capabilities in Lync Server 2010, are advised to deploy Lync Server on premises (for all of the Lync workloads – IM, conferencing and Enterprise voice). It should be noted that customers will still be able to deploy Exchange (and SharePoint) in the cloud including voice mail and have that work seamlessly with Lync Server 2010 on-premises. In the next slides we will look at these features and deployment options in more detail. Lync Server (On premises) Lync users can be hosted only on-premises or online (that is, they can’t split IM, conferencing, and voice) LAN-MCY

7 Lync Online – Enterprise IM & PC-to-PC Audio/Video
Rich presence IM PC-to-PC audio and video calling Global address list (GAL) and skill search in SharePoint Activity feed Click-to-communicate in Office Federation with Lync Server and Lync Online Federation with Windows Live Messenger Lync for Mac Lync Web App for IM/Presence (Future) Mobile phone clients (Future) IM archiving (Future) Enterprise IM and PC-to-PC Audio/Video Enterprise IM Lync Online (Cloud) Slide Objective: Explain the features that are included in IM/Presence capability area Talking Points: The Instant messaging workload includes presence, PC-to-PC audio and video calling and the ability to search your company’s directory for a colleague name. Key new features in Lync from previous versions are: New client UX that includes: Contact photos that enable more personal connections with colleagues from different parts of the organization, Activity feed, for quickly following and updating your contacts within the organization and skill search, that allows to find people with specific expertise within the organization (this is based on SharePoint on-premises and is not supported with SharePoint Online) PC-to-PC calls are supported across firewalls (not limited to the corporate network) – so users can be reached wherever they have their PC and an internet connection. Easily communicate with Lync users outside of the organization with IM/audio/video federation with on-premises Lync deployments, as well as with other Lync Online tenants. Users can communicate with Windows Live via presence and IM through federation as well. In addition to the PC-based Lync client, there will be a rich Macintosh client called ‘Lync for Mac’ that will be available at launch for Macintosh users. The following features are planned to be released in Q4 of CY2011: Lync Web App for IM/presence and initiating ad-hoc online meetings Mobile phone native clients for multiple mobile platforms Server-side IM archiving capabilities in Exchange Online Lync Server (On premises) LAN-MCY

8 Lync Online – Conferencing (Online Meetings)
Multiparty PC Audio/Video On-demand collaboration Desktop sharing Application sharing Online meetings Rich clients and web clients Integrated PSTN audio conferencing via partners Conferencing Enterprise IM Conferencing Lync Online (Cloud) Slide Objective: Explain the features that are included in conferencing (online meetings) capability area Talking Points: The conferencing workload in Lync Online is the next generation of today’s web conferencing solutions. The Lync experience has been designed to extend web conferencing from a solution that is used by 10-15% of the information workers in an organization into an experience that is essential, simple and reliable enough to be used by every IW all of the time. The key is to make online meetings, that include multiparty audio, video and screen/app sharing as easy and natural as IM. Key new features in this capability area are: Multi-party audio, video and desktop or application sharing up to 250 participants. Easy ad-hoc collaboration – escalating from IM to an audio, video and screen sharing session in 2 clicks (1:1 or with more people). Easy scheduled meetings via outlook plug-in that is an integral part of the Lync client. You cam make every meeting into an online meeting to allow the 1 person that is working from home to attend the meeting as if they are in the room. Integrated PSTN audio conferencing, or the ability to dial in using a landline or mobile phone requires a separate service from a certified audio conferencing partner. While these are 2 separate services, the experience will be transparent to the end user (access numbers and passcodes will be included in the meeting invite, audio can be heard across PC and phone end points). One limitation with Lync Online, relative to Lync Server on-premises is lack of support for interoperability with room-based video conferencing systems. One question that may come up is ‘what happens to Live Meeting Service’? At launch, Lync online replaces Live Meeting as the conferencing solution in Office 365. This means that new customers that buy Office 365 only get Lync Online and no Live Meeting. For existing BPOS customers, who have LM today, Live Meeting will still be available in Office 365 for transition purposes. The services will be able to coexist with new meetings scheduled in Lync and existing meetings still accessible in Live Meeting. Lync Server (On premises) Lync Online replaces Live Meeting in Business Productivity Online Suite (BPOS) as the conferencing solution Live Meeting service is available for existing customers during transition to Lync LAN-MCY

13 Dial-in (PSTN) Audio Conferencing for Lync Online
Office 365/Lync Online Approved audio conferencing provider (ACP) Audio bridge integration PSTN Lync endpoints Phone endpoints Integrated PSTN audio conferencing requires a separate service from an approved third-party provider. Customers purchase PSTN audio conferencing services directly from approved Microsoft partners. At GA, the integrated experience is enabled by importing data about the Audio Conferencing service into Lync Online. Works like the current Live Meeting service using a third-party provider. On-premises Lync Server can also provide PSTN audio conferencing capability. When enabled, attendees can dial into Lync meetings from any phone.

14 Dial-in (PSTN) Audio Conferencing Features
Schedule Lync 2010 meetings with phone dial-in capabilities and access numbers and passcodes information embedded in Outlook invitation. Join audio on phones by specifying a phone number in Lync rich client and Lync Web App. When presenting, add individuals to meeting audio by performing “invite-by-phone.” View dial-in participants in the Lync roster. Perform the following in-meeting commands for dial-in users (from both Lync 2010 and Lync Web App): Mute individual user Eject individual user Exit and end meeting Bridge audio between Lync endpoints (PCs) and phone endpoints (ACP Dial-in users) for Lync scheduled meetings. 16 Voice and PBX

17 Lync Online – Voice (Dial Tone in Lync)
Call landline phones and mobiles (PC-to-PSTN) Forward, transfer Simultaneously ring another number Exchange voice mail integration Voice (Dial Tone) Voice (Dial Tone) PBX Replace Lync Online (Cloud) Future Release N/A Slide Objective: Define what we mean by Voice (dial tone) and provide a high level overview of the planned availability of Voice in the cloud Talking Points: Voice refers to the ability to associate a phone number with Lync and make and receive calls from landlines and mobile numbers – this is why we also refer to it as ‘dial tone’. This capability will not be available at launch, but is currently planned to become available in Q4 CY2011. In addition to making and receiving calls, ‘voice’ includes call control capabilities like forward and transfer and sim-ringing another number (for example your mobile phone). Voice mail access to Exchange UM is another important feature that is included here. The actual phone numbers and calling plans (minutes) are provided via a separate service from a Telco partner. This will be similar to how PSTN audio conferencing works in Lync Online. As we continue to plan the service, we will make more information available on features, architecture and international rollout – customers who are looking to deploy Lync voice capabilities prior to Q4CY2011 should consider deploying Lync Server on premises (for all the Lync capabilities – IM, conferencing and voice, since you cannot split Lync workloads). Lync Server (On-premises) Voice becomes available in Lync Online after Office 365 GA Requires separate service from a Telco partner to connect to the public phone network (Phone numbers, PSTN termination) LAN-MCY

18 PBX Replace Available in Lync Server Only
Branch office appliance Fax and analog devices Automatic E911 Call Admission Control Existing telephony integration Call park, hunt groups PBX Replace PBX Replace Lync Online (Cloud) N/A Slide Objective: Define the capabilities that are included in the PBX replace capability area and explain the choices that customers have with respect to Lync and the cloud if they require these capabilities Talking Points: PBX replace features typically have strong ties to the customer premises and are therefore not planned to be available in the cloud in the Office 365 timeframe. The features fall into the following categories: they require equipment on the customer premises – examples are Branch office appliance and analog devices They require integration with on-premises equipment or networks – examples are automatic E-911, call admission control, RCC and direct trunks with legacy PBXs They are specialized telephony capabilities that are primarily used in call center scenarios – examples are call park and hunt groups PBX replace capabilities in Lync Server 2010 are new investments that are important to customers who are looking to enhance or retire legacy telephony systems. Since we do not support splitting Lync workloads (for example, IM in the cloud and voice on-premises), these customers should deploy Lync Server On-premises for all Lync workloads. Lync Server integrates with Exchange Online for voice mail with no need for additional gateways or hardware. This means that customers can have the best of both worlds, with Lync Server on premises (including PBX replace) and Exchange Online in the cloud (including Unified Messaging). ‘Lync split domain’ is another important future capability that planned for Q4CY2011. This will enable an organization to split groups of Lync users between an on-premises and Lync Online in the cloud. A typical scenario would be to have an on-premises Lync deployment for a central office location but deploy branch offices in Lync Online and the cloud. This would provide with IT managers with the maximum flexibility to segment their users and optimize their Lync investments and deployment models according to their needs. Lync Server (On premises) Cloud and on-premises coexistence options: Lync Server integrates with Exchange Online (Office 365) for voice mail in the cloud Splitting groups of Lync users between Lync Server and Lync Online available late CY11 LAN-MCY

19 Enterprise Voice = Voice + PBX Replace
Conferencing (A/V/Web) IM/Presence Enterprise Voice Lync as softphone (PC-to-PSTN calling) Common calling features and unified voice mail Specialized telephony features Direct integration with PBX (on premises) Integration with on-premises network/equipment Voice PBX Replace Lync Online (post launch) Lync Server (On premises) PC-to-PSTN calling Commonly calling features (sim-ring, hold, transfer, forward) Exchange Online voice mail Virtually anywhere access End-to-end encryption Local network integration (CAC, E-911, least cost routing) Direct trunks with existing PBX Support for fax and analog devices Branch office resiliency Call park, hunt groups Call center integration Key Capabilities LAN-MCY

20 Lync Online Federation & Public IM Connectivity
Lync Federation enables Lync users in different organizations to see presence and communicate using IM and PC-based audio, video, and screen sharing Lync Online tenants can federate with: Other Lync Online tenants Lync 2010 Server and Office Communications Server 2007 on premises Lync Federation is also available with Windows Live Messenger (Public IM Connectivity).
