5 Appraisal In Three 3 Categories: Broken Down
Attitude: positive/negative way discourse is presented> 1. Affect: The classification of actions in the way of emotions 2. Judgment: The over all outlook in the way people behave in accordance with social emotion. 3. Appreciation: the evaluation of the way things work using different systems of value> 1. Reaction : The way the audience rates the virtual museums and exhibits and the effect they give 2. Composition: rated in formal way; I.E. making sure everything is in accordance with the rules. 3. Social Virtual Value: The audience scores the exhibit or museum by compression to other conventions Engagement: The authors personal opinions and input about their own work. Graduation: The scoring of the over all presentation of the speaker. Appraisal In Three

6 The Importance of the Audience
Allows for both positive and negative feed back to the creators of the virtual space Gives important information on whether or not their approach was effective Lets them know if the overall result of there creation was satisfactory to the viewer The Importance of the Audience

7 Ethos: The ability of the rhetorician to appear credible and trustworthy, so as to be persuasive
Pathos: The ability of the rhetorician to evoke emotion in his audience through the way he communicates and consequently energizes them into action Logos: The ability of the rhetorician to persuade by “system of reasoning” or mostly my means of logic Ethos, Pathos, Logos….

8 Ethos, Pathos, Logos Continued…
Why are Ethos, pathos and logos important? These are all important because they are responsible for the quality of your creation. The Ethos that you provide will demonstrate to your audience how reliable you are. The Pathos is the ability to evoke emotion in your audience and cause them to feel an emotional connection to what you are showing them. The Logos is your capacity to persuade your audience using “system of reasoning” and or logic in what you are presenting. Ethos, Pathos, Logos Continued…

9 Appraisal Theory is a evolving field that identifies the importance of social context and tries to acquire ad much input from the audience as possible to help make there products better. Classical Rhetoric is aware of many of the important behaviors of the audience and tries to understand them to help assist with the ethos, pathos, and logos. Conclusion
