2 Skill Shortages in Victoria
Skill shortages are identified by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations and released in the Skills Shortage List. Your workbook lists jobs included in the Skills Shortage List. Marketing Me

3 Skill Shortages in Victoria
Some occupations in particular present excellent immediate opportunities including – Aged / Disability Care Transport and Logistics Traffic Control Resource Sector There will also be other occupations currently in demand in your local area. Marketing Me

4 Aged / Disability Care Personal care workers assist in caring for patients in hospitals, nursing (aged care) homes, residential care facilities for the aged or disabled and in people's homes. The job title can vary across aged care, disability services, hospital or acute care, community and residential care. Your workbook describes tasks that might be undertaken Marketing Me

5 Aged / Disability Care Training at Certificate level is required to gain entry into these occupations. Refer to your workbook for links to training information Marketing Me

6 Aged / Disability Care Employment for Aged and Disabled Carers to is expected to grow very strongly. Employment in this very large occupation ( in November 2011) has risen very strongly in the past five years. Two thirds of Aged and Disabled Carers work casual or part time with the other third working fulltime. Marketing Me

7 Traffic Controllers Traffic Controllers prepare and carryout worksite traffic management. This could include road works, event management, construction, emergency events. Traffic Controllers must complete a training course to gain a certificate to work in this area. Your workbook gives further details. Marketing Me

8 Transport & Logistics Picker/Packers work in warehouses and are employed across the Retail, Wholesale and Administrative Support industries. Work opportunities are high and two thirds of people working in this occupation work full time. Your workbook describes the types of tasks involved. Marketing Me

9 Transport & Logistics Training is generally not required to gain this work. You will need to have the following personal attributes: Interested in practical work Work as part of a team Be physically fit Good standard of personal hygiene Good memory and organisational skills Marketing Me

11 Resources Sector You will need to apply to companies through their careers/ recruitment website Your workbook lists a number of websites to access The Australian Job Search website (AJS) has a specific link to the Resources Sector Jobs Board Marketing Me

12 Resources Sector You will need a range of qualifications and certificates to enter the resources industry. You will generally be required to re-locate inter-state for employment however fly in-fly out arrangements may be negotiated Marketing Me
