Physical Abuse : This is any intention or unwanted contact with you or something close to your body Emotional Abuse: Deliberately trying to scare or humiliate someone that could make them feel depressed, anxiety or stress disorder. Sexual Abuse: This is being touched in a way you don’t like without giving permission consent for something to happen. Neglect: Failing to care for somebody properly, leaving them on there own and they’re under age

2 Physical Abuse Signs: Frequent unexplained bruises or cuts
Always on alert waiting for something bad to happen Flinches at sudden movements or when been touched. inappropriate clothing in hot water Symptoms: Bruises with patterns to it (hand marks) Burns on back of hands, back , shoulders or bottom. Cigarette burns Bite marks leave a teeth mark Broken or fractures bone regularly health problems or other injuries (scaring or poisoning such as vomiting , drowsiness ) Effects: Physical abuse damages children both physically and emotionally. The effects of physical abuse is painful and emotionally traumatic. Emotional problems anger, anxiety or low self esteem It estimated that at least one child dies every week because of physical abuse % were boys 51.2% were girls.

3 Emotional Abuse Signs: Yelling or swearing Name calling or insults
Always looks fearful scared about doing something wrong. Problems sleeping Lack of social skills / isolating and humiliating Symptoms: Have few friends if any at all Lack confidence or become anxious Be aggressive, nasty or demanding toward other people Struggles to control strong emotions Use language or act in a way that wouldn’t expect for their age Effects: sleeping problems Low self esteem Mental heath problems Could make them feel depressed Withdraw and nervous all the time Change behaviour Emotional abuse can course someone to have mental problems Many people don't know they are being abused and most abusers are alcoholics.

4 Sexual Abuse Signs: trying to avoid a specific person, without reason
Don't want to participate in physical activities Runs away from home Will avoid being around people alone Symptoms: Not sleeping Bruises or marks in unusual places Flinches when there movements or when someone is touching them Don’t want to change clothes in front of people Shows sexual behaviour that inappropriate for their age Effect: Make them feel depressed Could make them feel isolated Will not trust anybody or get close to anybody. One out of every three girls and one out of every eight boys will be sexually abused by age 18. Eight to 90 percent are family members or someone close to the family

5 The main ages group to get neglected are 17 to 18
Signs: clothes might be dirty or not right for the weather Hygiene is consistently bad (noticeable body odour) left alone to play unsupervised in a unsafe situation and environment The main ages group to get neglected are 17 to 18 Symptoms: Hungry and dirty Environment is unsafe Unsupervised or under age supervision Doesn't have medical records Has very bad nappy rash Effects: leads to illnesses Poor education Loose weight Bed sores

6 The typical victim: Anyone can be a victim of physical, emotional, sexual abuse and also neglect. Most victims don’t get that much attention off others Elderly abuse the victims might receive little attention off their service provider The victim is most aware that they’re being abuse but its a family member or someone close to the family but doesn't want to say anything

7 Typical Abuser: Single parents Poor, doesn't have that much money
Might have a background of abuse or have experienced it them self Takes drugs or drinks alcohol Not mature enough to understand what they are doing The typical offender is a family member or a someone close to the family Abusing a elderly – stressed because the service user not following instructions that the service provider has given them
