Guideline on Modeling DER in Dynamic Load Models – HERE Guideline on DER Modeling – under industry comment

13 Forced Oscillation Guideline
Guideline on Forced Oscillation Monitoring & Mitigation – under industry comment

14 Oscillation Analysis using Interconnection-wide PMU Data
Objective: understand modal characteristics of each interconnection using high-resolution, time-sync’d data Mode shape, mode frequencies, mode damping ratio Provide utility industry with better fundamental understanding of inter-area modes and forced oscillations on the BPS Use actual data to characterize system; possibly benchmark with model-based approaches Explore oscillation analysis tools available to industry Source: Montana Tech

15 Reference Document on Linear State Estimation
Plans to develop short reference document on LSE and application to real power systems Source: SCE

16 PMU Data Quality and Data Sharing Guidelines
SMS identified issues with “super PDC to super PDC” communications Typically between ISO/RC/BA to other ISO/RC/BA Need recommendations related to: Planned and Unplanned PMU Outages Forwarded data stream, raw versus manipulated Name changes NERC IDCODEs PMU Registry  Plans to develop ad hoc group to tackle these high priority topics.

17 MEITF Guideline on Establishing IROLs
Instability, Cascading, and Uncontrolled Separation

18 MEITF - Simulating Instabilities

19 EI Frequency Response Analysis

20 NERC/WECC Inverter Task Force Blue Cut Fire Disturbance Report

21 NERC Solar Resource Performance Task Force
Group will formalize and continue under new TF name Focus on planning-related aspects Recommended inverter performance Ride-through Momentary cessation Return to operation Phase lock loop robustness Frequency measurement stability Coordinated interconnection-wide simulations to identify any reliability risks in future Modeling capabilities and practices Seeking experts in area of inverter controls design and simulation of inverter-based resources Announcement coming soon

22 MOD-032 Designee Update Case Quality – working with PPMVDTF to identify how metrics will be incorporated in case creation data checks Case Fidelity – no identified fidelity issues in WECC Approved Model List – WECC list acceptable, more restrictive than NERC list

23 Upcoming Workshops NERC-NATF Power System Modeling Workshop
June 20-21, 2017 in Oak Brook, IL (ComEd) Variable Energy Resource Modeling Workshop August 1-2, 2017 in Atlanta, GA (NERC) NERC-NASPI Forced Oscillation Workshop September 27, 2017 in Springfield, MA (joint with NASPI)
