2 No actually I think I just will like to get to my hotel.
Your reservation is for the Gahrapury palace hotel but that place is very lonely. I will take you to Auntie Ji’s guesthouse. No please I insist

3 Hotel India is a family oriented society where they like to live as a family together. (Prabhat, 2014) That’s what makes Puro change Todd’s staying place from the hotel to a guesthouse, where he can feel the family atmosphere and did not make him feel alone. While Todd on the other hand who comes from America where they are more individual oriented. (Prabhat, 2014) Todd refuse Puro planes because he use to live alone. But Puro insist to take him to the guesthouse.

4 Yes Sir Okay Mr. Todd

5 Boss and employee relationship
Todd comes from a mild power distance society where he can call his boss Dave with his name. While Indian people prefers a high power distance for the relationship between employees and their boss, where they address Todd using Sir or Mr. Todd. They also prefer that their boss assign tasks and makes decisions. (MOORE, 2006)

6 ! ! ! Sorry sir, we don’t have cheese burger here
I would like two cheese burger please ! ! !

7 Burgers India is the only country in the world that does not offer beef at all. They only have vegetarian burgers and that’s because of the Hindu religion that widespread there. In Hindu religion people belief that they can’t harm other creatures. (PETRUN, 2007) That’s what Todd didn’t know about India when he went to McDonald’s to have a cheese burger. Also before that when he talk about the tool they use to mark cows in US. This situation show that India has a restraint society where they care a lot of their belief. While US is more indulgence and fixable society.(Hofstede)

8 ! ! ! You don’t live with your parents ? But you see them every week ?
NO NO

9 Living alone Todd lives alone. Even if his parents lives only two hours away from his house in US, he usually does not went to see them. This information surprise Puro who live in a country where they respect family value. Wile Americans are individualistic culture and they only care about themselves. In India all family members lives in the same house. On the other hand, the child in US move to his own house when he reaches to a certain age. (Difference between Indian Culture and Western Culture, n.d.) In India people may give up of their own wishes for their family well-being but in US that will never happen. (Prabhat, 2014)

10 ! ! ! ! I’m engage to be married Since I was 4 years old
How long have you been engage? ! !

11 Arrangement Marriage In India marriage arrangement is done by the bride and groom families. While in US every one is free to choose the person he want to marry or even choose to not marry at all. Parents didn’t force their children to marry or choose instead of them. (Difference between Indian Culture and Western Culture, n.d.) So, that’s what makes Todd shock when he hear that Asha’s parents arranged for her marriage since she was a 4 years old. This is because of the high individualism in the American society. While on the other hand Indian society is more collectivism.(Hofstede)
