3. Before wiki questions Why do they have that fancy design on there hands? Why are Indian weddings so big? What are some similarities and difference between Hindu and American marriages?

4. As you may know India is very different then America. In India they believe in arranged marriages! In India they were henna during special ceremonies! In the Hindu religion they have 2 most important gods (Shiva, Ganesh, Partiva) In America some of us don’t. In America some of us only use it for fun! We have many religions in our country but most of them are monotheistic. Indian vs America!!

5. On my page I talked about Hindu’s religions beliefs on marriages! Also Christianity is my religion! Hinduism is: Polytheistic Doesn’t have a founder Holy city is India Location: India No human or animal sacrifices Holy text: Vedas Christianity is: Monotheistic Founder: Abraham Holy city is Jerusalem Location: Everywhere No human or animal sacrifices Holy text: Bible Hinduism vs. Christianity

6. Marriage, why is it so important to society? Some people think that if a household has a father and mother and child then they are the building block of society. There children are well behaved Their children know more about relationships Their children know what is expected for them in society Their children become citizens More advantages Most people say that a single-parents family ISN'T a real family. Not proper Can't function Less advantages They don't really have structure They can't do things that they are supposed to do.

7. Arranged marriages in India: Child marriage was custom in Indian Children can get married before they even hit puberty. It Was to prevent children from seeking by themselves (when they are adults) somebody from a way lower caste. It was also so that children wouldn't marry outside their social class and outside their race. If the child decides to pick their own mate the parents threaten them. They won't give them money, they won't share anything and will drive them out of their homes. So they basically accept who there parents had chose.

8. Arranged marriages Curses The parents must negotiate the amount of dowry which is to be paid by the bride's family to the groom's family. Poor families don't do good with this trade. So they remain unmarried. If the dowry is not given a due date the wife can have serious problems She could die in an "accident“, Could be abused, and Could be kicked out. They will never meet each other before the marriage.They may get to see each other 2-3 times. That will only happen if someone is there.

9. This is a very ornate example of an Indian wedding invitation! Indian weddings or usually very ornate, so why not make the make the invitation ornate! They also may put the invitation on a scroll!

10. American (U.S.) weddings! People fall in “love” in order to get married. Most American brides prefer a much larger wedding. Maid of honor throws a bridal party! Ceremony takes place in a religious setting. With a religious leader. They newlyweds also kiss. The bride and groom sit on one side while the guests sit on the opposite side. The guests give gifts. The bride and groom also go on a honey moon!

13. This is henna ! Henna is a type of body art from India that is usually used in weddings. (But it can also be used in other rituals.) Henna is supposed to bring good luck and is supposed to be sacred. It's done on hands, arms and feet. But in America it's just to decorate your body!

14. This is an example of a Indian (Hindu ) ceremony! As you can tell the place is very gold! It is also very ornate! This is just an example not all Indian weddings look like this!

Henna is a type of body art from India that is usually used in weddings. (But it can also be used in other rituals.) Whats the point of henna? It's supposed to bring good luck and is supposed to be sacred. It's done on hands, arms and feet. But in America it's just to decorate your body! How does it work?

16. Why are Indian weddings so big? It's supposed to be tradition to invite everyone you know! (No that doesn't mean the mailman too!) It means your family and friends! (If the mailman is your friend THEN you can invite him!) Also you may send and invitation to someone and they will tell everyone they know. Also you might send an invitation to a house and everyone that lives there decides to go

17. What are some similarities and difference between Hindu and American marriages?? Well in India some marriages are arranged. While in America that isn't the case. Marriages in America happen when two people fall in "love". In Hindu marriages the parents of the bride and groom don't attend. This is also isn't the case in American traditions. The parents DO attend. They probably wouldn't attend if they have something REALLY serious going on. But they are also similar. They weddings are very large in size. Also they have a religious leader with them at the alter at the ceremony.
