2. ILL Survey Results 33 institutions responded to the survey
The majority use UPS and USPS to ship ILL materials
51.6% of respondents had an FTE of less than 5000

3. – Shipping Practices Ships UPS to everyone...
... except PO boxes: USPS insured
2nd day air only to reciprocals outside 2 day delivery range
RALC courier no longer in service
Recently stopped using stapled boxes
Mail room staff uses either fold & tape boxes or bubble mailers to their discretion/depending on content
All shipments are processed by the end of the day

4. – Shipping Practices
Richmond Area Library Consortium (RALC) shuttle has been discontinued
School mailroom retains control of how items are shipped
Mail is picked up once or twice per day (Depending on the campus)
Returning the paperwork that was received with the item
Shipping to institutions that have multiple addresses

Padded envelopes--types to use/not to use
Boxes
Re-using envelopes/boxes

6. – Shipping Practices Ships UPS to all VA libraries - 2nd day air
Ship materials within 24 hours-most end of the day
Due dates 8 weeks no renewals - (except media material)
Shipping returns to lending VIVA libraries - UPS
Shipping medial material (2 weeks use)
Ship UPS to distant customers
Shipping borrowing libraries & returning borrowed material - Christmas/New Years break
Processing non-returnable requested material from borrowing libraries (including Knowledge Base).
