1 The Legislative Branch

2 Constitution The document that set up our system of government.
It holds the powers and limitation of our government. Our basic rights are in the Bill of Rights.

3 Separation of Powers The separation of our government into 3 separate but equal branches. No one branch is more powerful than another.

4 Unconstitutional Against the wording of the Constitution. Illegal

5 Checks and Balances The powers of each branch are separate but equal.
Each branch of government has the power to check the actions of the other branches.

7 What is the Legislative Branch?
Established by Article I of the Constitution. The Legislative Branch consists of the House of Representatives and the Senate, which together form the United States Congress. Members of the House and the Senate are elected officials.
