2. In the following presentation I am going to talk about and analyze a music video of my choice
The Music video I have chosen is Hayley Kiyoko "Girls like Girls"

3. This music video is based on two girls who are in love with each other and throughout this music video we see their story 
Throughout we see problems like homophobia and domestic abuse explored.
This video was directed by Hayley Kiyoko herself alongside Austin S Winchell.

4. Different interpretations -fans
A fans interpretation of this video would be much different to a general persons interpretation.
This can be seen as a way of Hayley Kiyoko of expressing herself almost in a sense coming out. Kiyoko's sexuality remains a mystery to fans however making a video such as this would make fans think that she is a member of the LGBT community.
In the eyes of a fan this video can be seen as a story of two lovers who are lusting toward each other and being too afraid to show it.

This type of music video was well received by the general public as it received 68,620,523 views on youtube along with 1,156,445 likes.
This video also received 49,982 dislikes this could be due to the nature of the video or even something as simple as people not liking the song.
Overall it can be said that to the general public this song and video was well received and liked by most of the people who like it.

6. Audience interpretations- LGBTQ Community
This music video is absolutely fantastic for any member of the LGBTQ community this video is based around two girls loving each other so why wouldn’t they love it.
The song used in this video normalizes the love between two women and it would help anyone who is living in fear of being who they are.
A lot of attention has been brought to this video from the LGBTQ community because it's something that they can find relatable.

7. Audience interpretations -Domestic abuse
Domestic abuse is seen throughout and explored in this video especially in the end of the video.
Throughout the video the male character is seen lurking in the background of all the moments the two girls are spending together. This shows that he is very protective of his girlfriend and it's almost like he knows the two are in love.
In the end he finds the two sharing a kiss and he physically attacks the other girl and begins shouting and screaming at his own girlfriend for betraying him like this.
These scenes are quite upsetting but they could be relatable to anyone who is going through or has gone through domestic abuse and they may find comfort in this.

8. Within audience theory there are many models
Within audience theory there are many models. These models include the hypodermic needle theory. The hypodermic needle theory is when a message is made and placed into a product and it is then received and understood by an audience. I think the message in this video is to never be afraid to love and never be afraid to be yourself.
The reception theory is also talked used in this video because it has been and still is being viewed by different audiences. This leads them to making their own interpretations to the content they are viewing. This is seen in this music video because not everyone is going to read this differently.
Another model that is used within audience theory is the two step flow model. This when someone with power passes information about their views on something onto others. This doesn’t really apply to this particular music video because although it received many views it wasn’t really massive in the eyes of the public.
The uses of gratifications and gratifications model is another model used in audience theory. This would apply to this video because it enforces the thought that beoing yourself is okay and women loving eachother is okay therefore leading to people listening to the song and watching the video to define this.

9. In conclusion I would say that Girls like girls was well received by those who viewed it.
There are many audience theories that were explored in this video and they were successful.
Many themes were explored and executed well by producers and directors.
