Software is another word for programs written in programming languages
Systems software is a software designed and developed to make computers function
Application software/programs are programs written to perform task such as word processing
Instructional software is applications software designed specifically to deliver or assist with student instruction on a topic

Students work example items and receive feedback on their correctness
Provides an entire instructional sequence similar to a teacher’s classroom instruction

Databases – keeps inventory and locates instructional resources, mines data for planning and reporting, utilizes students info to perform required tasks, sends personalized letters
