History of English Kings serving as vassals to France Last French (Capetian) king died Edward III of England claimed right to the French throne Hundred Years’ War Joan of Arc: heard voices telling her to drive the English out of France led the French into battle and led them into victory The fate of Joan of Arc: Joan was captured by English allies burned at the stake
