1 Other Road Users Motorists should always be on the look out for pedestrians and oncoming traffic Pedestrian Laws: Failure to yield Penalties Include: •Up to $500 fine •Suspension up to 6 Months •2 Points on License •Up to 25 Days in Jail

2 Bicycles, skaters, mopeds, motorcycles, all have the same rights and responsibilities as moving motor vehicles Extra caution should be taken when sharing the road with motorcycles and mopeds

3 In adverse conditions trucks can take as much as 25% longer to stop.

Key Points to Remember to avoid the No-Zones •Side Zones (Increase or Decrease Speed) –If pass can not be made within speed limit decrease speed Leave room at stop signs and red lights especially on hills in the rear zone as the larger vehicle may roll back slightly

5 -Be aware of turn signals and of vehicles slowing down at intersections -Do not attempt to Pass

6 Yielding to Buses (Penalties)
Remember: You must yield to buses re-entering traffic. (Includes School Buses) Violating this could result in a penalty of: $50-$200 Fine Up to 25 Days in Jail

7 License Renewal Every 4 years for your standard license (probationary 1 year) Must Provide: –Expired License –Completed Renewal Form –6 Points ID If you do not renew license for 3 years you will be required to retake the knowledge, vision, and road tests Name change 2 weeks Address change 1 week

8 Vehicle Registration If a motorist moves into this state: vehicle to be titled and registered within 60 days Initial Registration on New car is: 4 Years After 4 years or on used vehicles registration must be done every year. Steps to Register a Vehicle: –Fill out Application card –Provide Proof of Insurance –Show Proof of Ownership (Title) -Pay sales tax, pay fee -Must be at least 17 years old

9 Inspection Done every 2 years (5 years for a new car)
Must present license, registration, insurance card If you buy a used car you have 14 days from time of registration to get inspected. Fail inspection? You have till end of next month to make any repairs.
