4. How Israel Failed
Justification by law rather than faith (9:31) - Did not arrive at THAT Law (i.e. Faith) Where did the Law (of Moses) take us? - “For Christ is the end of the law” (10:4) - The OT is a tutor to Christ (Galatians 3:24)
Ro 2:13 for it is not the hearers of the Law who are just before God, but the doers of the Law will be justified.
Ga 3:24 Therefore the Law has become our tutor to lead us to Christ, so that we may be justified by faith.

A righteousness not achieved by lawful conduct - In other words, not because of deservedness A righteousness through another’s propitiation - Only possible in Jesus Christ - Christ is only arrived at by faith - An accredited righteousness (4:9)
Ro 4:9 ¶ Is this blessing then on the circumcised, or on the uncircumcised also? For we say, "FAITH WAS CREDITED TO ABRAHAM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS."
