VERB (PREDICATE) THE MAIN ACTION IN THE SENTENCE If the Subject is singular—the Verb MUST be singular If the Subject is plural—the Verb MUST be plural

3 To make a Subject plural---add an “S”
To make a Verb plural—remove the “S” The elephant trumpets for a peanut elephant is singular trumpets is singular

4 The elephants trumpet for peanuts
Elephants is plural Trumpet is plural

5 WHENEVER—you see “each, either, neither Anyone, anybody, anything,
Everyone, everybody, everything No one, nobody, nothing Someone, Somebody, Something. You have a singular subject Every chicken wing and pork rib sits untouched on Ruth’s plate.

6 The chicken wing and pork rib sit untouched on Ruth’s plate.
WHENEVER—you have 2 singular nouns joined by “AND” you have a plural subject. The chicken wing and pork rib sit untouched on Ruth’s plate.
