3 Overview of the Scalable Distribution Infrastructure
IBM Software Group | Tivoli Brand Software Overview of the Scalable Distribution Infrastructure Agent JES DCD CIT SIE TPM Compliance Compliance Collectors DMS Distributed Component Depots TPM Server Scalable Distribution Infrastructure Dynamic Content Delivery Agent Manager Data Collection Need to talk here about each component and what they do. Dynamic Content Delivery and Depots – for scalable distribution of files. DMS – for deployment of jobs (job server). Agent Manager – manages agents and agent certificates. Data Collection – collector for discovery scans of the agents. Agent: JES – Job Execution Service. Manages and processes jobs to the agent. DMS – The client to the DMS server SIE – Software Installation Engine. Installs and uninstalls the software package block (SPB) software packages. TPM – File management, task management, command line execution, and agent status upload. DCD – The DCD client to download files from depots and peers and to be the peer server to other agents. CIT – Common Inventory Technology for inventory scans of the agent computer. Compliance – for security and computer system compliance checks. 4 Agent and SDI Enhancements - Component Status
IBM Software Group | Tivoli Brand Software Agent and SDI Enhancements - Component Status SDI Component Status Depot Summary Status These status tables are found on the “Provisioning Administrator” start center. These KPI charts use data in the DCM and are not live data. The status of the SDI components are update every 2 minutes in the DCM. However, to see the updated status the user must push the “Update” link on the page. The depot status is updated as depots are installed. However, to see the updated status the user must push the “Update” link on the page. IBM Tivoli Monitoring for Transaction Performance v52 ESP Workshop Workshop Guide

7 TPM 7.1 Agent and SDI Enhancements - Agent
IBM Software Group | Tivoli Brand Software TPM 7.1 Agent and SDI Enhancements - Agent Agent Status Agent Installation Improvements Increased stability for agent install Automatic updates to TPM for stand-alone agent install (no agent discovery execution required) TPM functions installed in one feature (no longer show 14 subagents on Computer Software tab) Depot function installed in second feature The increased stability for agent install includes the installation of the TPM features with the agent installation. If the feature fails to install the agent is considered a failed install and will automatically rollback the agent installation. 8 TPM 7.1 Agent and SDI Enhancements – SDI Jobs
IBM Software Group | Tivoli Brand Software TPM 7.1 Agent and SDI Enhancements – SDI Jobs SDI Job Priority and Expiration This is related to software jobs. IBM Tivoli Monitoring for Transaction Performance v52 ESP Workshop Workshop Guide

9 TPM 7.1 Agent and SDI Enhancements – Task Status
IBM Software Group | Tivoli Brand Software TPM 7.1 Agent and SDI Enhancements – Task Status In progress and completed task monitoring of software downloads DCD Depots and Peers used for downloads show active success, or failed for in progress tasks. The success or failure of DCD Depots and Peers is also shown (same as x). The feature of seeing in progress download plans for DCD depots and peers is to allow for better visibility into what is happening and what may be failing during a software distribution job. For example: If the job is taking a very long time for some target then the user can look at the download plans. If they see several failed download plans they can then see what depots or peers are being used and fixed the issue. IBM Tivoli Monitoring for Transaction Performance v52 ESP Workshop Workshop Guide

10 TPM 7.1 Agent and SDI Enhancements – DCD Settings
IBM Software Group | Tivoli Brand Software TPM 7.1 Agent and SDI Enhancements – DCD Settings More granular network control for regions More granular network control for zones DCD Admin command line for creation, update, and removal of regions, zones, and depots. Region items: Minimize traffic – means to prevent more than one depot from going outside of the region to get a file. Replication happens inside the region mostly. Block incoming requests – means the region should prevent endpoints from other regions from getting the files from this region. This requires the association of zone definitions. Block outgoing requests – means the region should handle all request internally and not allow targets to get files from outside this region. This requires the association of zone definitions. Zone items: Minimize traffic in and out of zone – means to only allow one agent (endpoint) to get a file and then have the file shared as a peer to other targets in the same zone. Use local IP address for peering – means to use the local IP address within a NATed environment to contact peers. Block incoming requests – means the zone should prevent endpoints from other zones from getting the files from this zone. Block outgoing requests – means the zone should handle all request internally and not allow targets to get files from outside this zone. The DCD admin CLI can be found under $TIO_HOME/tools/dcdadmin. There is a sample XML file provided along with the XML DTD. IBM Tivoli Monitoring for Transaction Performance v52 ESP Workshop Workshop Guide
