Countries can be described in terms of level of development in regards to economic, social, environmental, political, and technological spheres.
Terms such as these are used to describe them:
MEDC: more economically developed country
NIC: newly industrialised country
EE: emerging economies
LEDC: less economically developed country

8. Poverty – what is it?
The UN (United Nations) defines poverty as ‘a denial of choices and opportunities, a violation human dignity… It means not having enough to feed and clothe a family, not having a school or clinic to go to, not having land on which to grow one’s food or a job to earn one’s living… It means susceptibility to violence, and it often implies living in marginal or fragile environments, without access to clean or sanitation.’
Why is it easy to measure poverty and wellbeing based solely off economic indicators (think back to type of measure)?
